Quick Tips:

- Set your thermostat a few degrees higher than normal. If it's 95 outside, don't expect your home to get below 75 without your HVAC working overtime.

- Change your filter. A dirty filter makes your AC work harder and cool less.

- Close the drapes to block the sunshine. Leaving them open creates a greenhouse effect fast.

- Shift laundry and dishwasher runs to mornings or evenings. Heat stresses pipes and water heaters too.

- Space out big appliances. Your electrical panel is already carrying the AC, fridge, fans, and dehumidifiers.

- Check your sump pump. This heat can bring unexpected heavy storms.
