The B-52 Stratofortress is a long-range, heavy bomber that can perform a variety of missions, such as strategic attack, close-air support, air interdiction, offensive counter-air and maritime operations. The B-52 is equipped with various electronic warfare systems, such as radar warning receivers, jamming pods, chaff dispensers and flare launchers.
These systems can help the B-52 detect and deceive enemy radars and missiles, and create false targets or decoys to confuse the enemy. The B-52 can also use its advanced targeting pods to identify and track enemy fighters and provide situational awareness for the crew.
The B-52 often operates with es**rt fighters that can provide protection and support for the bomber. The es**rt fighters can engage and neutralize enemy fighters before they reach the B-52, or distract them from attacking the bomber. The es**rt fighters can also provide cover for the B-52 during its ingress and egress from the target area.
Also the B-52 has a tail gunner position that can fire a 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon at enemy fighters that approach from behind. The tail gunner can also use a radar scope and a periscope sight to aim at the enemy.
