For Construction Inclusion Week, UJAMAA joined teammates from across the construction industry, including Gilbane, Pepper, Powers and Sons, Brown and Momen, and Turner Construction, for a day of service at Breakthrough.

Together, we rolled up our sleeves in the Community Garden and learned more about the incredible work happening through Breakthrough’s Men’s Center, Women’s Center and Fresh Market.

It was a great reminder that some of our industry’s most meaningful work happens away from the jobsite.

When we come together to serve the communities where we live and build, everybody wins.

That’s the UJAMAA Way.

Where industry meets impact.

Yesterday, TUJV was proud to join industry leaders at the AMAC ATLANTA CHAPTER Hard Hats & Horizons Power Lunch Speaker Series; an afternoon centered on leadership, partnership, and the continued advancement of Atlanta’s architecture, engineering, construction, and aviation communities.

Representing UJAMAA Construction, Todd Pressley, MBA, Co-Principal, joined the conversation on “The Power of Partnerships: Leadership Insights from AEC Leaders,” sharing perspective on the importance of building authentic relationships, creating pathways for opportunity, and working collaboratively to strengthen our industry.

The afternoon also provided an opportunity to recognize the 2026 Hard Hats & Horizons Honorees — Frank Rucker, Joy Rohadfox, Oscar Harris FAIA, and William J Stanley III FAIA & Ivenue Love-Stanley — whose leadership, accomplishments, and contributions have helped shape the AEC community and create pathways for those who follow.

A special acknowledgement to Theresa Schroeder, CDP, MCA, CWDP and V. Mishaune Brinson Sawyer, Esq. for serving as outstanding moderators and guiding a thoughtful, engaging conversation that brought valuable perspectives to the forefront.

Events like Hard Hats & Horizons reinforce the value of bringing decision-makers, industry partners, and emerging leaders into the same room; not simply to connect, but to exchange ideas and create meaningful impact.

We were proud to be in the room as TUJV — Turner Construction Company + UJAMAA Construction, supporting AMAC Atlanta's continued commitment to connection, leadership, and opportunity across the AEC community.

🏆 We’re proud to celebrate a First Place win!

UJAMAA Construction’s RISE Prep Charter School Renovation has earned First Place honors in the 2026 Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc. (AGC Georgia) Build Georgia Awards Program.

This recognition reflects the dedication, craftsmanship, and collaboration of everyone who helped bring the project to life. We are especially proud to recognize Dhananjay (DJ) Thorat of our Project Team.

DJ and team demonstrated the UJAMAA Way throughout the project—leading with teamwork, accountability, excellence, and a shared commitment to strengthening the communities we serve.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our trade partners, design professionals, and the RISE Prep Charter School community for their trust and collaboration. Creating high-quality educational environments is about more than renovating a building; it is about creating spaces where students and educators can thrive for years to come.

This is what building with purpose looks like. 💙

Last week, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of Lawndale Christian Health Center’s new Family & Senior Health Center in North Lawndale.

The new 35,000-square-foot facility brings together family medicine, senior care, optometry and clinical training under one roof, creating more space to care for the community while helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.

For UJAMAA, the best part of finishing a project is seeing what happens next. Seeing people walk through the doors. Seeing a neighborhood resource come to life. Seeing a building become part of something much bigger.

Congratulations to the entire LCHC team and all of the partners who made this moment possible.

This week, UJAMAA Construction recognizes Construction Su***de Prevention Week; an important reminder that safety on the jobsite must include both physical and mental well-being.

Construction is an industry built on strength, resilience, and teamwork. But behind the hard hats are people carrying real pressures: demanding schedules, time away from family, physical strain, financial stress, and the expectation to simply “push through.” Too often, those challenges go unspoken.

We have to change that.

Su***de prevention starts with creating a culture where asking for help is viewed as a sign of strength, not weakness. It means checking in with the person working beside you, recognizing when someone may be struggling, listening without judgment, and making sure our teams know where support is available.

At UJAMAA, The UJAMAA Way means looking out for one another. We believe everyone deserves to go home safely at the end of the day and that includes being supported mentally, emotionally, and physically.

This week, and every week, we encourage everyone in our industry to:

Check in. A simple conversation can make a difference.
Listen. Sometimes people need to know someone genuinely cares.
Speak up. Help break the stigma surrounding mental health in construction.
Know the resources. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or considering su***de, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the resilience, unity, and compassion that brought communities together in the face of unimaginable loss.

May we continue to honor their memory through service, kindness, and a commitment to building stronger communities together.

Building for those who serve. 🚒

Progress is taking shape at the City of East Point Fire Station #5 Renovation, where the UJAMAA Construction Southeast team is hard at work transforming an existing shell into a functional, purpose-built space for East Point’s fire service.

These photos capture what construction looks like in the field: reviewing the plans, walking the work, coordinating with trade partners, and making sure the details come together the right way.

The project includes demolition, new masonry wall construction, HVAC installation, carpentry, and interior improvements designed to customize and enhance the existing facility.

But the work represents more than walls, ceilings, and mechanical systems. It’s about creating an environment that supports the men and women who serve the East Point community every day.

From the plans on the table to the progress happening throughout the building, our team is proud to keep pushing this project forward The UJAMAA Way.

During Black Business Week, Governer JB Pritzker and his team visited Black Ensemble Theater to learn more about the history, impact, and future of one of Chicago’s most important cultural institutions.

As part of the visit, UJAMAA Construction was proud to help walk the Governor through the new black box theater and dance studio currently under construction at BET.

This project is deeply aligned with the UJAMAA Way.

Black Ensemble Theater’s mission is to eradicate racism and its damaging effects through theater arts and community engagement. At UJAMAA, we carry a similar responsibility through construction: using what we build to advance equity, create opportunity, and strengthen communities.

That is what makes this work so meaningful.

We are not just building rooms. We are helping create spaces where artists can develop, stories can be told, young people can be inspired, and culture can continue moving the community forward.

UJAMAA Construction was proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Austin HOPE Center, a space built to bring care, resources, and opportunity closer to Austin families.
