In our recent SHOT Show announcement, we promised to share more about the XR-GT Silbertool’s proven cold-forming restoration technology for professional gunsmithing. Here is a closer look.

-The hand-operated tool features a compact, diameter-adjustable body and interchangeable three-roller sets.
-Engaging the thread from three sides, the rollers reform displaced material toward its intended geometry without cutting additional material from the barrel.
-Designed for damaged external barrel threads, XR-GT helps preserve thread geometry, fit and alignment for compatible muzzle devices and other barrel attachments.
-It supports diameters from 5–20 mm | 3/16”–3/4”, with pitch-specific roller sets for common metric and inch profiles.

Customer states “I’m Happy!”

Severely damaged thread on a 2005 Ram 2500 rear axle spindle.

Finding a replacement was impossible, no scrap yard or aftermarket parts were available.

This took some work but ultimately using the Silbertool XR-60 with 16tpi rollers, the thread is restored and the full repair can be completed.

Fun fact: Our main office in Estonia is actually a little over 2000 miles from the North Pole & here in Chicago we’re about 3,300 miles - although it’s been feeling like the North Pole lately 🥶
