Last week’s steel lift in Nashville was a big one. 🏗️

Using a 500-ton crane, our team placed the first structural steel for a new Main Computer Room on the hospital’s second-floor roof, supporting critical technology upgrades.

A lot of planning, coordination, and teamwork went into making this happen safely. Great work by everyone involved in getting this in place and keeping progress moving forward. ➡️

We’re excited to share that Richard has been ranked No. 17 on Inc.’s 2026 Regionals: Midwest list of fastest-growing companies. 🙌

This marks a significant jump from No. 34 last year and reflects the continued growth of our team and the work we’re delivering across the country. ⬆️

As we grow, our focus remains the same: building spaces that support our clients, strengthen communities, and earn long-term trust.

Thank you to our team members, partners, and clients who make this possible.

In 2025, we partnered with Hope Ignites Chicago to transform an unfinished basement into a space where their scholars can do homework, meet with their mentors, and spend time with one another. We’re excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at the before and after!

Here’s how the space came together:
🧱 Brick walls → new framing and chalkboard walls
🎓 Cracked floors → a new foundation for learning
📚 Empty space → a space with desks, books, and room to connect

Hope Ignites partners with motivated students from disadvantaged backgrounds to provide the academic support, mentorship, and stability they need to pursue higher education and long-term success. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help build environments that support that work through our Purpose Builder program.

Proud moment for our team. 🏅

Jeff, Laurie, and Rico received Challenge Coins for their work on a U.S. Marshals Service detention and jury assembly renovation in Springfield, IL.

This project involved renovating detention and support spaces, including new holding areas, updated systems, and interior buildouts. All work was completed within an active, occupied federal facility with ongoing court operations. The building is also a historic structure, requiring an added level of care to preserve existing materials while construction progressed.

Challenge Coins are awarded for projects delivered with exceptional performance, including strong safety, schedule adherence, and quality. This recognition reflects the consistency and accountability our teams bring to every job.

Thank you to Jeff, Laurie, and Rico for representing what it means to build with purpose. 👏

We’re proud to share that Richard has been ranked No. 1 on Building Design+Construction Top 15 Veterans Affairs Facility Construction Firms for 2025. 🏆

Richard ranked ahead of nationally recognized contractors including Walsh Group, ranked No. 2, and Clark Group, ranked No. 3. This recognition reflects our continued growth in federal construction and, more importantly, our commitment to building facilities that serve those who have served. 🇺🇸

VA projects demand careful planning, strict standards, and close collaboration with federal partners. This achievement is a testament the work our purpose builders put in every day.

From decommissioning a nuclear power plant to managing complex healthcare projects, Emma’s career has been built on precision.

As a Project Manager at Richard, she works in active hospital environments where construction happens just steps from patient care. With detailed schedules, clear coordination, and careful attention to safety protocol, Emma helps keep projects moving without disrupting the people who rely on the space every day. 🏥

Approachable, detail-oriented, and powered by spreadsheets, she embodies what it means to build with purpose.

Celebrating Women in Construction Week together. 👷‍♀️

Earlier this week, members of the Richard team gathered at a job site near our headquarters to connect, share experiences, and recognize the women building careers across our field and home office teams.

Over lunch, experiences were shared from those with more than 20 years in the industry to team members just getting started. The group also toured the job site and saw the Electronic Health Record Modernization work underway in the telecommunications rooms, supporting more connected care for Veterans.

We are grateful for the opportunity this gave our team members to connect, learn from one another, and continue building pathways for the next generation of women in construction. 🙌

What does effective design-build look like in federal construction? 📐

In our latest blog, Richard’s design team share their firsthand experience with design-build delivery, including how it’s being applied across public-sector projects and what teams are seeing in practice.

Highlights include:
🔹 Earlier contractor involvement and cost alignment
🔹 Stronger collaboration during preconstruction
🔹 Improved coordination through BIM and clash detection
🔹 Where design-build delivers value, and where another approach may be better

Last week, 12 members of our team gathered in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for our Process & Innovation Summit.

The goal was simple: sharing ideas to create better tools and systems for the builders doing the work every day.

Here’s how it all came together:
➡️ Team members spent several weeks preparing presentations around their three best ideas
➡️ Each person presented individually to their peers
➡️ The group then broke into teams to score and prioritize the 10 most critical initiatives

Outside the working sessions, time was spent snowmobiling through Yellowstone, exploring local spots, and seeing bison in their natural habitat. 🦬

Now, we’re refining those priorities and planning how to implement them in ways that best support our field teams. Strong ideas and thoughtful collaboration set a solid foundation for the work ahead, and we’re excited to see what this year brings for the herd.
