Your daily moment of zen, brought to you by the gorgeous plantings at Ball Seed Company.

Yesterday, Greenprint visited Ball Seed Customer Days with our partners Chicago Department of Transportation and Civic Projects Architecture to research sun annuals for the 2027 seasonal design of the Michigan Avenue median planters.

Earlier this month, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of Ronan Park Sculpture Park & Healing Garden, a new gathering space along the river in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood.

Years in the making, this project blossomed into a successful, community-driven planning project: to establish a strong neighborhood gateway, to improve access to green space and the river, and to alleviate flooding concerns and reduce runoff through the use of integrated green infrastructure in the new plaza featuring a performance pavilion.

Congratulations to the Chicago Park District, Perkins&Will, TERRA Engineering, Ltd., Burling Builders, Inc, Architectural Cast Stone, Ward 33 ~ Chicago, Illinois, North River Commission, Metropolitan Planning Council and Global Gardens Chicago, and everyone who helped bring this project to life.

Congratulations to the Chicago Torture Justice Memorials on the groundbreaking of the Chicago Police Torture Justice Memorial. This is the nation’s first permanent memorial honoring survivors of police torture. Greenprint is honored to be part of this project, working alongside Jaqcorp intl and many City leaders. The design is directly influenced by input from survivors, family members and other CTJMF members and an aims to create a lasting public space for remembrance, education, healing and civic engagement.

The Corliss Flats passed final inspection yesterday! 🎉 This is one of Wisconsin’s largest affordable housing project ever, built on the site of a former steam engine factory and finished with salvaged cream city brick. In addition to new residents, The Corliss now homes permeable pavers and bioretention basins that manage over 230,000 gallons of stormwater during major rain events.

Affordable. Beautiful. Sustainable. This is what it looks like when good design doesn’t have to choose. Green infrastructure funded through the MMSD Fresh Coast Green Communities program in partnership with Greenprint Partners.

What does it take for civil engineering to make a real impact in Chicago?

We sat down with Alex Heidtke, PE — Greenprint's Engineering Manager — to talk about her work across Chicagoland: navigating complex permitting, collaborating with diverse project partners, and one of her favorite project types: green schoolyards.

Alex has spent her career designing sites that manage stormwater, reduce flooding, and give kids a real, tangible connection to how water moves through the world. 💧

Congratulations to two (!!) of our FCGC participants, Rogers Street Academy and The Corliss Flats, on receiving the Mayor’s Design Awards last week! 🎉 The awards recognize design excellence throughout the City of Milwaukee. Recipients have added value to their neighborhoods by restoring, constructing or enhancing their properties in a way that respects the urban fabric and contributes to the character of their surroundings.

16.5 acres. A lakefront. Decades of history. And a community ready to shape what comes next.

Steelworkers Park in South Chicago sits on the historic U.S. Steel South Works site — ore walls, steelmaking artifacts and all. Greenprint is partnering with Chicago Park District and Nurture Architects to develop a Framework Plan that honors that legacy while building toward something new.

50+ Southeast Side residents came to our kickoff meeting to share their priorities. That’s where leadership starts.

In this last week of , we’re thinking about how landscape architects help communities lead their own futures.
