We're thrilled to welcome NBC Chicago Anchor Stefan Holt as the official emcee of the 2026 Midway 5K. A Chicago native, Emmy Award-winning journalist, and aviation enthusiast, Stefan knows the importance of bringing our community together—and we're thrilled he'll help kick off one of Chicago's most unique race experiences.

On Sunday, September 13, runners and walkers will have the rare opportunity to race on the airfield at Chicago Midway International Airport, all while supporting the incredible work of Special Children's Charities.

Yesterday was Father's Day and the summer solstice.

We like to think the universe arranged that on purpose.

To every dad, father figure, and mentor who has shown up, built something lasting, and made the people around them feel grounded, we hope you soaked up every extra minute of light.

Last week alongside Southwest Airlines, Chicago Mayor’s Office and Chicago's Department of Aviation, we proudly announced the return of the Midway 5K. This fall, runners and walkers will once again have the rare opportunity to take over the airfield at Chicago Midway International Airport.

Beyond the unique experience of racing on the Midway airfield, this event directly benefits Special Children’s Charities , helping fund year-round programming for children and adults with disabilities across Chicago.

As a Special Children’s Charities Board Member, our CEO, Smita Shah, saw reviving the race as a unique opportunity to connect community, aviation, and philanthropy to support the growth, empowerment, and well-being of children and adults across the city.
