I want to share something a little more personal than what we normally post here.

Long before NHOU existed, there was a man named James “Jim” Gray who had a tremendous impact on my life.

Jim was my Army recruiter when I was a young man. But he became much more than that. He became a friend and an important male mentor in my life. It took me getting older to fully appreciate just how much people like Jim helped shape the person I eventually became.

In 1987, while working as a postal carrier in Mount Dora, Florida, Jim noticed families on his route who couldn't afford Christmas presents for their children.

So Jim and some fellow postal workers reached into their own pockets and bought them clothes, shoes and toys.

That simple act grew into Adopt-A-Child for Christmas, which continues helping children and families today.

When I read the history of how it started, I couldn't help but smile.

That was Jim, 100% to the core.

He genuinely cared about people. He wasn't looking for recognition. If somebody needed help and Jim could do something about it, he did.

We've been fortunate to build a pretty large community around NHOU, and occasionally I'd like to use that reach for something bigger than selling rust protection.

So I'm asking our customers, employees, dealers, business partners and friends to check out Adopt-A-Child for Christmas. If Jim's story moves you and you're able to help, please consider making a donation.

A lot of people doing a little can make Christmas very different for a child.

Jim has been gone for 26 years. His good work hasn't.

Almost 40 years after he started it, children are still benefiting from one man's decision to help a few families on his mail route.

That's one hell of a legacy.

Every Business Has a Story. Here’s Ours.

This was part of Joey and Lenny’s road trip visiting NHOU dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Fitzpatrick’s was one of the stops, and they were kind enough to sit down with the guys and talk about **how NHOU got started, how the business has grown, and some of the lessons learned along the way.**

Lenny has also been a longtime family friend, so there are a few good stories mixed in there. 😂

If you’re over 50, you probably understand this immediately.

We didn’t have driving modes. We had:

Secondaries opened. Four barrels kicked in. Your buddy stopped talking. The gas gauge moved faster than the speedometer. 😂

And somehow we survived without the car asking us if we’d like to switch to Sport Mode.

If you know that sound when the secondaries opened up… you’re our demographic. 😂🇺🇸

Marc at NHOU St. Croix Valley is back with another little rustproofing lesson—how oil works, why creep matters, and why treating rust like a maintenance item can add years to a vehicle.

He also tackles one of the great unanswered questions in automotive engineering:

Why are most car horns tuned to the note F?

After years of research, testing, and R&D... we still have absolutely no idea. 😂

This is exactly where V3 Hybrid earns its keep.

Not every work truck is new, clean, and rust-free. Sometimes the goal is to repair what needs repairing, slow down what Mother Nature already started, and keep a working truck working.

Fleet Life Starts With What You Do on Day One.

This is exactly why “brand new” doesn't necessarily mean “rust free.”

Paul at Rust Crusher was understandably surprised when he got underneath this brand-new school bus and found this much surface rust. Unfortunately, it's more common than most people realize. Search around and you'll find plenty of examples of brand-new trucks and commercial equipment developing surface rust before they're ever put into service.

Vehicles and equipment can spend months being transported and sitting outside in all kinds of weather before the customer ever takes delivery.

That's also one reason we developed **Boss Wax Hybrid**. A traditional hard wax coating is great when you're starting with pristine steel, but the real world doesn't always deliver pristine steel. Boss Wax Hybrid was engineered to pe*****te enough to work with **light surface rust**, while still delivering the durability and dry-to-the-touch characteristics fleets want from a wax-based system.
