It's official: PG&E customers now have a hard deadline to go solar: April 13th 2023. After that, NEM 3.0 will go into effect which brings the solar payback period from 5-6 years to 9-10 years. Massive difference!
Hurry up! Those who install solar before April 2023 are going to be grandfathered into the current "Net Energy Metering" (20 years) deal which makes lowering power bills much easier.
Experts estimate that homeowners in California who don't get solar on time will miss out on about 60% of savings under NEM 3.0, compared to NEM 2.0.

- Must be a homeowner
- Must have little or no shade on your roof on south, west, east sides.

GO SOLAR BEFORE 4/15/2023!!!!

This was voted on and passed on 12/15/2022.

The California Public Utilities Commission unanimously voted to approve Net Energy Metering 3.0 (NEM), slashing payments for excess solar production sent to the grid by 75%.

CPUC voted cut the average export rate in California from $0.30 per kWh to $0.08 per kWh, making the cuts effective on April 15, 2023. Customers who have new systems installed and approved for grid interconnection before the effective date in April will be grandfathered in to NEM 2.0 rates.
