Join us in remembering one of Briess' most memorable and influential Team Members, Mary Ann Gruber, former Director of Technical Services. ❤️
Mary Ann dedicated 40+ years to Briess and the brewing industry, leaving a lasting impact. From her early days in the lab at Chilton Malting Company to her quality control, new product development, and leadership in technical services, she helped shape the future of craft brewing through innovation, mentorship, and unwavering support for brewers across the country.
🍺She partnered with Charley Papazian to establish the American Microbrewers Association, supporting the craft beer movement in the 1980s.
🔺When red beer became popular in the early 90s, she'd receive more than 100 calls from brewers seeking guidance on Briess caramel malts.
🤲She provided hands-on guidance to brewers, assisting with equipment sourcing + installation, brewer training, and beer formulations.
💧In the early 2000's, she developed Cold Steeping - a technique that continues to influence brewers.
Her legacy lives on through the brewers she mentored, the innovations she pioneered, and the countless friendships she built throughout the industry.
