Ryan doesn't mind below zero temps, though the last few days are pushing it. Thankfully, the shop is warm and the work keeps a person moving.

Notice sticker on his coffee cup. While merch is not currently available for sale, the amount of food consumed in these winter months may call for a side-hustle for funding.

Most of you know Phil, as he has been at the shop for nearly 12 years. Ryan is the new guy and for those who have not yet met him, let's make an introduction!

Ryan is a native and resident of Cornell. He was a student of the welding program of CVTC.

For Ryan, is gratifying because of the complexity of jobs, working on something different every day and meeting people from a variety of industries.

In his spare time, not that there is a lot of spare time as a new owner of your own business, he enjoys working on his truck. His fiancé, Alexis, is currently studying equine veterinary medicine in Ohio.

Square to round. IYKYK

Always a bit of a challenge and gratifying to complete.

This job came with a drawing but no flat pattern. Flat patterns needed to be created using CAD with input from the customer to ensure proper fit.

Parts were TIG welded and now ready for cleanup.

One of B & D Metal Fab's specialties is fabricating custom metal guards designed to protect machinery and keep workplaces safe.

Ryan and Phil used 14G steel and used the 10-foot industrial sheet metal roll to bend the specific radius for the customer's machinery.

Specs were provided for this job; however, on-site measurements can be arranged.

** January 1, 2026, marks the start of an epic new year and new era at B & D Metal Fab! **

Phil introduced Ryan Helland to customers over the past couple of weeks and today formally congratulates him as one of the new owners.

Ryan and co-owner Saira will continue to do business as B & D Metal Fab. Jobs in queue and forthcoming will continue without service interruption.

Phil is staying on for the year as full-time assistant and consultant. Together, they look foward to expanding services and availability.

Note: was a part of contract negotiations and has agreed to stay on to oversee this parcel of the Chippewa Industrial Park and monitor the firetruck testing dock from his backyard as he has for the past 5+ years.
