"PAID ENGINEERING and
ENVIRONMENTAL
INTERNSHIPS
The City of San Diego’s Storm Water Division has two paid internships
available for full time students
Internship #1: This position will assist the Storm Water Infrastructure section with projectbased
assignments. It may include planning and attending project meetings, updating the
Division’s GIS records, general filing, and management of the section’s databases related to
storm drain and LID projects. This position is located in Kearny Mesa.
Internship #2: This position will assist the Operations & Maintenance section with tasks
related to various environmental permits and storm drain projects. It may include research,
plan checks, field data collection, updating Needs Lists, and creating GIS maps. This position is
located in Oak Park.
Requirements for both internships: Valid Driver’s License; full time student pursuing a degree
in engineering, geography, or a closely related field; completion of at least one full year of
classes; experience with MS Word and Excel; ability to commit to 6‐10 hours per week
(including summer) for one year or until graduation; and a graduation date not before March
2014.
*EIT Certification and/or classes on GIS, Watershed Analysis, Hydrology, Hydraulics,
and Fluid Mechanics are not required but are highly desirable*
