Desert King International recently lost its CFO, Robert James Thiessen, 74. He passed away in San Diego, California on February 26, 2024 surrounded by family.
He was born to parents Jacob and Frances Thiessen on November 30, 1949, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
In 2010 he moved to the United States with Deanna Naus and their daughters Georgia and Layla and his adventure began in southern California.
He had been a very close to friend to Paul Hiley, president of Desert King International, and he often visited the office, that’s when we began noticing how smart and capable Bob really was. A few years later, we were fortunate to have him join Desert King as our CFO and he worked with us until the very end.
Robert was a loving and devoted father to his four children. He is survived by his son Blake Thiessen and his daughters Brooke Thiessen, Georgia Thiessen, and Layla Thiessen.
Bob was a big softie when it came to dogs, even though he would never admit it. He once drove from San Diego to their cottage in Muskoka, Canada and back with their dog Pyper because she developed a fear of flying after they used a cargo service to bring her to San Diego. He also cried when the family had to put her down.
His last job was at Desert King International and he worked until the day he was taken to hospice. We all miss him so much already! We shared many Stone IPA’s with Bob (his favorite beer). He loved Celine Dion, black corvettes and often called many employees ‘kiddo’ which we all found to be caring and sweet. He was also the best MC we could've asked for at our yearly Christmas company dinners. Bob was part of our family. He became a father-figure to many of us and we cannot thank him enough for everything he did for us all.
This is to you Mr. Thiessen. We love you and you will always be our buddy.
