It's Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4–10), and this year The National Fire Prevention Association is focused on something we all do every day: charge our devices. 🔋

The lithium-ion batteries that power our electronic devices can overheat and start a fire when damaged or charged the wrong way. Here are NFPA’s 6 safe-charging tips:

1️⃣ Use the cord and charger that came with your device, or one approved by the manufacturer

2️⃣ Charge on a hard, flat surface, never on beds, couches or under pillows

3️⃣ Stop using a device that's very hot, swelling, smoking or has a strange smell

4️⃣ Unplug the device once fully charged

5️⃣ Charge e-bikes, scooters and power tools outside and away from exits

6️⃣ On a plane, keep your device where you can see it while it charges, not in the overhead bin

Last week our crew swapped moisture meters for shoeboxes and spent the day with Shoes 4 the Shoeless.

This Dayton nonprofit has been getting new shoes and socks onto local kids since it was founded here in 2010, and last year they reached over 21,000 kids across Southwest Ohio. We got to be part of that.

Most days you'll find us handling water damage or mold. Today was a good reminder that helping out doesn't always look like that. Great day for the crew.
