The labor movement at large is under attack from all sides. Politicians once sought out endorsements from unions -- now some have made destroying the labor movement a campaign promise. The double speak of "right to work" is being used to vilify the very unions that worked tirelessly to create and protect workers' rights.

The average worker today has forgotten the struggles of previous generations. People enjoy 40-hour work weeks, eight hour work days, and mandatory safety measures in their workplaces. Many do not understand that these conditions were not always a given, and the erosion of those basic protections is very possible in the near future.

During this time when our hard-won protections are under attack, we must join forces as a bulwark against those who would seek to destroy us.
