Cantilever Balcony Failure – Structural Rebuild

This second-story cantilever balcony had severe dry rot that extended back into the home’s framing.

Because cantilever joists run directly into the structure, long-term moisture intrusion doesn’t just damage the deck — it compromises the house itself.

In this case, we had to:

✔ Open the interior wall to assess structural damage
✔ Remove compromised joists and framing
✔ Rebuild structural members to code
✔ Reinforce load-bearing connections
✔ Install proper flashing and moisture protection

Cantilever balconies require proper structural detailing. When flashing fails or moisture is ignored, damage spreads inward.

This is not cosmetic work — it’s structural repair.
