This weekend, I had the opportunity to catch up on a couple of smaller restoration projects. Both required a delicate approach to preserve the character and integrity of the wood while preparing the surfaces for refinishing.
For these projects, I used a fine glass blasting media to gently remove old coatings while maintaining the wood's natural profile and leaving an excellent surface for paint or restoration work.
On the antique end table, I used the same media at very low pressure and volume to carefully preserve the wood and avoid unnecessary damage. For the custom wood design piece, we intentionally did not remove all of the paint due to the risk of compromising the intricate details and craftsmanship of the design.
Both projects turned out great and are now one step closer to being restored to their original beauty.
If you have antiques, furniture, woodwork, or any other project that requires delicate surface preparation, we'd be happy to help.
