This was a dangerous mess. Someone plumbed the discharge tube of the water softener into the drain and waste line, the sewer. It is improperly plumbed using a saddle attached to the side of a waste line allowing for the backflow of effluent from the homes drains like your toilet to mix directly into the drinking water. I understand that the economy is not the best and you may be tempted to save money doing small or large projects yourself, please do your research before you do the work.

Hard work will see you through the day. Nothing has ever stopped us from completing a project, except the lack of will by the owner or investor to proceed. No task is too challenging. Everyday we knock a little more off the list of things to do and before you know it we are packing up and moving on to the next one. Everything in life can be overcome, one day at a time.

We got with an engineer to advise us on our poor soil situation. Thanks for the advice McDowell Engineering and to Tim the eyes and ears of McDowell on our site

This basement escavation is showing poor soils at the level we need to place footings. Soil borings were done prior to the dig and they did not mention swt or wt, seasonal water table or water table and we are seeing a bunch of water. The cure is to pump out the water and dig down to a more favorable soil. If you look around your life and see that things are feeling a little poor you may also want to pump out some of those things that may be bringing you down. Life is too short to waste any amount of time feeling down and out.

Home building has given me many challenges over my life all of those challenges have been met. All of them were rewarding even though some of them took the wind out of me I never quit I kept pushing on to the finish line, the goal of completing the task. One day may feel like a failure to you but in reality that day of work brought you closer to the completion date of your project. Building a new home is a long process with ups and downs, do not become discouraged keep pushing on.
