⚡ REC Crews at Work! ⚡

Our Redwood Electric Cooperative line crew is hard at work preparing for maintenance and upgrading transformers to better serve one of our large members later this week. These projects require a lot of preparation and teamwork to ensure our system continues operating safely and reliably.

What a great day at the Watermelon Days Parade! 🍉
From all of us at Redwood Electric Cooperative, thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate. It was wonderful seeing so many members, neighbors, and friends along the parade route.

A special thank you to Jeremy and his littles for representing Redwood Electric Cooperative and helping spread smiles along the way! We’re proud to be part of a community that comes together to celebrate local traditions and each other.

🚨 Downed Power Lines: Stay Back. Stay Safe. ⚠️

A downed power line is always an emergency. Even if it doesn't appear to be energized, assume it is and stay at least 30 feet away from the line and anything it may be touching.

If you encounter a downed line:
✔️ Stay at least 30 feet away.
✔️ Warn others to keep their distance.
✔️ If a line falls on your vehicle, stay inside unless there's an immediate danger like fire. If you must exit, jump clear with both feet together and shuffle away without lifting your feet.

Never:
❌ Touch a downed line or anything in contact with it.
❌ Drive over a downed power line.
❌ Attempt to move branches or debris tangled in a line.
❌ Assume a line is safe because it isn't sparking or making noise.

📞 Report downed power lines immediately to Redwood Electric Cooperative and provide the location as accurately as possible. If the line poses an immediate danger to the public, call 911 first.

Move Over. Save Lives. 🚨
In Minnesota, moving over is a simple but powerful way to show respect for those who serve our communities. When you see flashing lights or orange safety cones, you’re approaching someone’s workplace - and often, a situation where lives are at risk.
Just like anyone else, line crews deserve a safe place to do their job.

Here’s what you need to do:
- Move over: On roads with two or more lanes, shift one full lane away from emergency and service vehicles.
- Slow down: If you can’t move over, reduce your speed and pass with caution.

• Keep your eyes on the road
• Avoid “gawking” to prevent secondary crashes
• Stay in control and drive the clear path ahead
Every time you move over, you’re helping ensure everyone on the road makes it home safely.

Remember: This law also protects drivers stopped with hazard lights on or someone outside their vehicle. Violating the law can result in fines.
