Thank you to MidTown Cleveland, Inc. for helping us stay “physically fit” while enjoying some team building and networking at the Annual Mid-Town Kickball Tournament last week!

We felt inspired by The Party Animals, and brought a few of their moves to our pregame warmup.

This Monday, Depot on Detroit welcomed the City of Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb and community partners for a site tour and a press conference focused on the work being done to expand access to affordable housing throughout Cleveland.

During his remarks, Mayor Bibb emphasized that addressing housing affordability requires collaboration across government. Through its partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the Cleveland Housing Investment Fund has raised $53 million and supported the development of 216 affordable housing units across the city within the past year.

Two JGJ projects account for 112 of those homes: Depot on Detroit, a 60-unit affordable development serving Cleveland’s Edgewater and Cudell neighborhoods, and Walton Apartments, a 52-unit senior housing community in Clark-Fulton.

We’re honored to contribute to this citywide effort alongside the public agencies, community organizations, developers, and project partners working to create quality, accessible housing for Cleveland residents.

At Divinity Landing, the JGJ team recently assembled, placed, and filled four garden beds with vegetables and herbs as a gift to the future residents of this senior housing community.

Developed by National Church Residences, Divinity Landing is a new senior living complex being constructed in Macedonia, Ohio. The addition of these garden beds will provide residents with an accessible way to grow their own food right outside their homes.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on a project that is creating new senior housing, and we’re proud to support the future residents with a space to connect, cultivate, and take root in their new homes.

Recent construction updates from inside the building: appliances and the elevator have been installed, while painting, trim, and hardware work remain ongoing. Outside, the remaining pavement is currently in progress. We’re in the final stretch of this project, and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of this building.

PROJECT UPDATE: It’s been a busy stretch at Warner & Swasey since our groundbreaking in early June.

Recently the project has been reaching some significant milestones, including the demolition of the silo and Building 6, as work continues to prepare the historic MidTown Cleveland property for its next chapter as an affordable living complex.

On the exterior, the north side of the building has been power washed to remove exterior graffiti, restoration work is continuing along the northeast and south sides. Utility work has also made notable progress, with the west area water and sewer tap connections completed, inspected, and approved.

Inside the building, demolition is ongoing on existing stairwells and concrete floor repairs are underway on the fourth floor while beam repairs continue on the third floor. Masonry work is also moving forward at Stair No. 1, and exposed steel beams on the first floor have been prepped and primed.

Looking ahead, first-floor electrical rough-ins are scheduled for September, and exterior restoration work is continuing on the south side of the building.

This summer, JGJ had the pleasure of welcoming 7 interns to our team, including 5 project engineer interns, 1 safety intern, and 1 marketing intern from schools across the region.

From jobsite visits and project meetings to new connections and experiences, each intern brought curiosity and a fresh perspective to our team.

This week we traveled to Elyria, OH to attend the groundbreaking of McGregor Landing, Lorain County’s first combination senior housing and health complex.

Located beside the recently opened McGregor PACE - completed by JGJ in 2025 – this new 4-story development will provide 115 affordable, independent-living apartments for seniors 55+, including 15 accessible units. Residents will enjoy on-site management, a variety of amenities, and easy access to the care provided at the McGregor PACE facility.

We’re proud to partner with McGregor Communities , CHN Housing Partners, and Hiti, DiFrancesco and Siebold, Inc to build this much-needed community.

The sun is up, and so are walls across the Winston-Salem Choice Neighborhood jobsite.

Last week, our team placed 160 cubic yards of concrete for the foundation slabs of Buildings 1 and 2. Building 14 passed its framing inspection, while Building 13 now has first-floor framing complete and second-floor walls going up. PT cable testing was also completed on the Building 12 slab, and we’re on to first-floor wall framing. Plywood sheathing is nearing completion on Buildings 5 and 6.

Great work by the JGJ team and our project partners as this neighborhood comes together across all corners of the site!
