We’ve laid the foundation at Depot on Detroit, a new 60-unit affordable housing project developed by Flaherty & Collins Properties in Cleveland’s Edgewater/Cudell neighborhood. The property will provide residents with convenient RTA transit passes as part of their lease.

The project remains on schedule for completion in 2027, with several important milestones to announce:
• Foundation work is complete
• Underground plumbing and electric are underway on site
• Masonry work is in progress
• Elevator shaft is currently being built
• Curbs and asphalt are expected within the coming weeks
• Slab pour and framing are scheduled for next week

We’re excited to see Depot on Detroit chugging down the tracks and look forward to the role this project will play in expanding access to affordable housing and transportation.

JGJ was proud to sponsor the Ohio Women's Affordable Housing Network (OWAHN) 5th Annual Celebration & Awards Ceremony—an inspiring event dedicated to celebrating growth, connection, leadership, and empowerment across Ohio’s affordable housing industry.

We were honored to have our Vice President of Predevelopment, Anthony Valencic, serve as an ally and panelist on OWAHN’s Leadership in Bloom discussion, where he joined fellow industry leaders to share insights, discuss the importance of mentorship and advocacy, and celebrate the accomplishments of women making a lasting impact in affordable housing.

We are also incredibly proud of our Director of Marketing, Casey Millard (Thomas), NTP, who serves as a Board Member and Vice President of OWAHN. Through her leadership and dedication, Casey continues to help advance OWAHN’s mission of supporting and empowering women throughout the affordable housing sector.

JGJ was proud to attend the groundbreaking celebration for the historic Warner & Swasey revitalization project!

After years of planning, we joined Regional Vice President of Pennrose Companies Geoff Milz, MidTown Cleveland, Inc. Executive Director Ashley Shaw Eaton, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, Cleveland Councilmember Richard A. Starr, and many other community leaders to mark this exciting milestone.

We were especially honored to welcome former Warner & Swasey manufacturing facility employees back to the site, bringing the building's rich history full circle.

We are thrilled to see this transformational renovation project come back to life and look forward to its impact on the community for generations to come!

JGJ wrapped up Construction Safety Week by reinforcing the fundamentals that keep our teams safe every day.

Topics covered included the ABC’s of Fall Protection, proper harness fitment and inspection, anchorage installation requirements, lanyard and SRL usage and clearances, and post-fall rescue planning.

Our crew also received hands-on training with trauma straps and the Werner Chair In The Air, along with a refresher on ladder safety tips.

Safety remains at the core of everything we do at JGJ.

Progress continues at the Puritas Apartments as we move closer to completion.

Mr. Excavator is currently working on topsoil placement and final grading, while landscaping officially kicked off this week. Inside, punchlist work is ongoing across all floors, and exterior painting will be completed soon.

Developed by Volker, and managed by Barton Communities, Puritas Apartments is a new 48-unit senior housing community on Cleveland’s west side, designed to provide affordable, service-enriched living for residents 55+.

We can't wait to see everything come together in the coming weeks!
