To round out our Giving Tuesday posts, we will hear from our VP of Outreach, Carrie Stenger:

"Working with WISER for the last few years has really made my time at CWRU a blast. I found my passion in working with the Outreach Committee to bring the spirit of WISER to the community in new ways. I love working with local girls and showing them that they have the brains and the skills to stay in STEM: it's not just for boys! WISER has partnered with local schools, the Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and many more to reach as many local girls as possible. It is incredibly rewarding to see the visible confidence boost when their experiment works or when they learn something amazing. Reaching girls before they are intimidated away from STEM is the single best way to increase involvement of the next generation of women in STEM and I feel honored to have worked towards such an important cause. I am truly proud to work with such an inspiring group of women in WISER. I deeply appreciate the opportunities that donors like yourself provide for WISER to make such a difference in the local community and to invest in the next generation of innovators."

It's Giving Tuesday!! We truly appreciate all of your donations so far. Help us reach our goal of $4000 by tomorrow! Today we will hear from our SEVA Outreach Coordinator, Varsha Krishnan:

"Even before I came to Case Western Reserve University, WISER was on my radar as an organization that I wanted to be a part of during my time as a student. WISER was the first club I signed up for at the activities fair, albeit I signed up for many, and one I chose to continue participating in because of the passionate and supportive environment that resonates within the organization. I have gained tremendous confidence as a woman in STEM, from professional skills and networking to mentorship and volunteering. I truly appreciate how at each event, every member is friendly and eager to engage with everyone. Despite our limited previous interactions, we are always excited to bond over the general body meeting topic or simply over the shared trait of being women in STEM. WISER not only does a great job of uniting students on campus but also in engaging with students off campus, in the local community, and abroad. Our engagement with local schools and participation in events such as Engineering Week are always amazing opportunities to cultivate an interest towards STEM in younger students. The ability to spark curiosity in children, especially young girls, towards a field I am passionate about is incredibly empowering. On top of supporting women in STEM, WISER also works to raise funds for SEVA, a non-profit organization that supports schools in India. Despite a complete shift from normalcy this year, WISER has been resilient. We’ve continued providing support to students at CWRU, engaging with the local community, and creating new ways to fundraise and stay connected. My sophomore year in WISER has been a wonderful experience thus far, and I simply cannot wait for more enriching experiences as a member of this community."

Today we will also hear from our VP of Public Relations, Joelle Scott:

"I’ve made many decisions throughout my years at CWRU, but joining WISER was 100% the best decision I’ve made. It has given me a large group of supportive and fun women in STEM that I will cherish forever. The outreach we do is incredibly empowering, I love to show kids that STEM is fun and everyone can do it! I know if I hadn’t been lucky enough to be exposed to STEM at a young age, I wouldn’t be where I am now, so I am so proud that WISER is able to provide that to local students in Cleveland. WISER contributes to many communities, with our outreach within campus and the Cleveland community and our SEVA program which helps fund the education of girls in India. WISER has been an integral part of my college experience as a woman in STEM and I am grateful to have been involved in such an important organization."
