We are happy to announce that Gateway Propane and the Fertilizer/Chemical division of Rabideau Grain has been acquired by Heritage FS, a farmer owned cooperative serving Ford, Iroquois, Kankakee, Will and DuPage Counties in Illinois & Benton, Jasper, Newton and White Counties in Indiana. Both Rabideau Grain & Kempton Grain elevators will remain under our ownership and continue to be operated by Rabideau Grain.
What does this mean for you?
On a day-to-day, it’s business as usual for the grain division of Rabideau Grain & Lumber only now we can focus our resources and capabilities more exclusively to continue to drive value for you and work efficiently and effectively in our market. Propane customers will now be serviced by Heritage FS. Heritage FS will be honoring Gateway Propane prebuy propane contracts. Heritage FS will also be assisting customers who require agronomy services and will no doubt work as passionately for our customers as we have in the past.
What does this mean for us?
Our employees will be working in conjunction with Heritage FS and Rabideau Grain to provide a smooth transition for your propane and agronomy needs! Our main office remains in Clifton, Illinois. In the short term, a Heritage FS agronomy specialist will be working out of our office in Clifton, Illinois. Rabideau Grain will continue to be a leading area provider in the grain handling and grain marketing arena.

Gateway Propane entered the propane market over a decade ago to provide a competitive outlet to meet local resident’s needs. Rabideau Grain has been a leading provider of cutting edge agronomy products and services for many years. Along the way, we have been a valuable resource to numerous businesses, community organizations, and individual farmers. Rabideau Grain will continue to be that valuable asset for the surrounding community. As a new line of service, deicing road salt will be offered this winter by the ton. We will continue to work to optimize small budgets where no one else can. Stay tuned to see where our growth and innovation takes us from here.
