Today, we’re proud to recognize Braden Larson as the recipient of the 2026 AAK Mechanical Scholarship! 👏👏👏

Braden was selected for his interest in pursuing a skilled trade — a career path built on hard work, hands-on learning, and real-world problem solving.

At AAK Mechanical, we believe the trades deserve just as much recognition and encouragement as any traditional college path. Not every successful path starts in a four-year classroom. Sometimes it starts in a shop, on a jobsite, in an apprenticeship, or with someone willing to learn a skill and put in the work.

The reality is this: skilled trades are vital, in demand, and full of opportunity.

The world needs builders.
The world needs fixers.
The world needs people willing to work with their hands and take pride in what they create.

From welding and pipefitting to HVAC, electrical, cosmetology, construction management, and beyond, these careers keep our communities, industries, and country running every single day.

Tradespeople don’t just build projects — they build communities, infrastructure, businesses, and futures. They keep America moving.

For years, we’ve seen firsthand the value of skilled trade professionals and the growing shortage of workers entering these industries. That’s exactly why we created this scholarship — to support students who are ready to learn a skill, work hard, and build a future through vocational or technical education.

Congratulations again, Braden! We’re excited to see where your future takes you. 👊

Settling a debate—MIG vs TIG 👇

We asked the crew what process they prefer to run:
Brent Hawkins — Both. Because I’m that good.
Gabe Hanlin — MIG
Derek Rossio — MIG
Brandon Kretzinger — TIG all the way
Dillon Morgan — TIG
Zach Mills — Ooof that’s a loaded question. Every job has the proper process… TIG if I have to pick a fav though.
Tyler Seibert — TIG all day
Hunter Lock — TIG by far
Teegan West — TIG
Owen Earl — TIG
Chad Rice — 100% TIG

For those who don’t live in a welding hood, here’s the quick breakdown:

MIG uses a machine that continuously feeds wire through the gun while you weld. It’s fast, efficient, and great for getting a lot done—especially on thicker material.

TIG uses a torch in one hand and a filler rod in the other, with a foot pedal or fingertip control for heat. It’s slower, takes skill, and gives you a ton of control—used when it needs to be clean, precise, and look sharp.

MIG
• Speed: Fast
• Precision: Moderate
• Best for: Thicker steel/aluminum
• Filler: Machine-fed wire
• Cleanliness: More spatter

TIG
• Speed: Slow
• Precision: High
• Best for: Thin material, stainless, aluminum
• Filler: Hand-fed rod
• Cleanliness: Very clean finish

Looks like TIG might be taking this one in our shop… 👀
