MSI Construction was established on April 18th, 1957 by Irvin Michael Major under the name Major Lumber & Construction Company, which grew from a one-man operation into one of Western Indiana's leading construction firms.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the company constructed a variety of public and private projects, including large commercial and industrial buildings, using pre-engineered metal buildings, which were cost-effective and functional compared to conventional materials and designs.
In the 1970s, Major & Son’s expanded its scope to include design and build services. Reflecting this evolution, the company changed its name to Major & Son's, Inc. General Contractors, highlighting its core operations. Over the years, it undertook projects for various government agencies, including the U.S. Government, Corp of Engineers, State of Indiana, as well as local government bodies, public utilities, and private industry. Irvin M. Major held the position of president from 1957 until his retirement in 1994.
In February 1994, the company was rebranded as MSI Construction by the founder's two sons, John V. Major and Irvin A. (Tony) Major, the second generation of builders and contractors.
Under the banner of MSI Construction, Inc., the company expanded its services to encompass design-build and project management. As the economy flourished, it ventured into competitive bidding and heavy industrial construction, emerging as a full-service general contractor operating in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.
MSI Construction takes pride in its rich family legacy within the construction industry, emphasizing values such as quality, attention to detail, value, service, and safety since its inception. Each project undertaken by MSI Construction benefits from top-quality materials and skilled union craftsmen and construction managers.
John V. Major, the President of MSI Construction, conveyed appreciation to the employees for their exceptional craftsmanship, recognizing their indispensable role in the company's 67-year journey in business. He also expressed gratitude to the clients for their ongoing business and support, crucial elements driving the company's growth.
