A major milestone for Advanced Air Mobility.

The newly released international roadmap for AAM aircraft type certification, developed by aviation authorities from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, marks a crucial step toward global regulatory alignment.

At Piasecki Aircraft, we welcome this effort to streamline certification for next-generation aircraft. As we advance hydrogen-electric VTOL platforms, harmonized standards will be key to accelerating safe, scalable innovation across markets.

Hydrogen is striking back.

New momentum is building around hydrogen-powered aviation. Not only as a climate solution, but as a driver of economic growth, industrial innovation, and skilled workforce development.

Recent reports from Fathom Consulting, Green Alliance, and Cleantech for UK all emphasize hydrogen’s significant potential to transform aviation, enabling regional air mobility and driving innovation across various industries.

At Piasecki, we’re advancing hydrogen-electric VTOL technologies to meet these challenges head-on. Our goal is zero-emission vertical flight that’s scalable, certifiable, and sustainable across both civil and defense applications.

This is more than propulsion, it’s a new era of flight.

As Avionics International highlights, the rise of Advanced Air Mobility depends on intelligent, adaptive avionics—and at Piasecki, we’re actively building that future.

Through our ADAPT program, we’re pioneering autonomous rotorcraft capabilities like Return-to-Base and Safe Landing Area Determination. A key part of this mission is our new partnership with Volz Servos , whose dual-redundant actuators are integrated into our CoAX 2D demonstrator to ensure reliable, damage-tolerant control.

Together, we’re advancing the safety, autonomy, and flexibility required for the next generation of rotorcraft and AAM platforms.

Check out the latest issue of H2TechOnline, where we explore why high-temperature proton exchange membrane (HTPEM) hydrogen fuel cells are the “Ticket to Ride” for next-generation rotorcraft and eVTOL systems.

While batteries have some advantages for some applications, hydrogen offers the endurance, power, and range needed to take electric flight beyond the city limits into demanding missions like search-and-rescue and offshore operations.

Why HTPEM hydrogen fuel cells?

- Eliminates the heavy liquid cooling systems needed for low-temperature fuel cells

- Delivers continuous, aviation-grade power — including power-intensive takeoff

- Improves power-to-weight ratio (higher energy density and specific power) compared with batteries

- Enable longer-duration flight missions without needing to recharge

- Entirely zero-emission, making it the most sustainable fuel for aviation and aeronautics

The long-term trend is clear: H₂-powered eVTOLs deliver quieter, lighter, and cleaner performance for the next generation of flight.
