June is National River Month! 🌿

At Meadville Land Service, rivers and streams are at the heart of what we do. Healthy waterways provide clean water, support wildlife, reduce flooding, and create beautiful places for future generations to enjoy.

Throughout the year, our crews work to restore degraded streams, stabilize eroding banks, improve water quality, and reconnect natural habitats. Every project is a step toward healthier rivers and stronger ecosystems.

This National River Month, take a moment to appreciate the waterways in your community—whether it's a favorite fishing spot, kayaking destination, or the stream running through your local park.

Together, we can help keep our rivers flowing clean and healthy for years to come. 💧🌎

What looks like a simple stick is actually one of the hardest-working parts of a stream restoration 🌱

This live stake, freshly planted along the streambank, is already starting to leaf out—proof that the system is doing exactly what it’s designed to do. As these stakes grow, they’ll anchor the soil, reduce erosion, and help bring long-term stability back to the stream.

Fun fact: Live stakes are cut from species like willow or dogwood and planted directly into the ground while dormant. Once they take root, they grow into fully functioning plants—turning what looks like a branch into a living, breathing erosion control system.

This is where restoration starts—small details making a big impact over time.

Winter reminds us why stream restoration matters❄️
Even under snow and ice, this restored channel is doing exactly what it was designed to do — safely conveying flow, stabilizing banks, and protecting surrounding habitat. Healthy streams work year-round, reducing erosion, improving water quality, and supporting resilient ecosystems in every season.

🌿🦌 Special Visitor Alert! 🦌🌿
We’ve had a very unique guest hanging around our jobsite lately — this stunning piebald buck! 👀

As we work to restore healthy streams and enhance local habitats, it’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do. Seeing wildlife thrive right where restoration is underway is the ultimate success story. 💧🌱

Fun Fact: Only about 1–2% of deer are piebald! 🤯

We’ll be keeping a close eye on our friend and his adventures as he enjoys the newly restored stream.

This striking piebald squirrel was checking out our construction site the other day — a rare treat for our crew.

🌿 Fun fact: Piebald squirrels aren’t a separate species — their unique white patches come from a genetic condition that affects pigment, making each one truly one-of-a-kind.
