10 years ago, we were tapped by a certain group to undertake the full blown operational, physical and regulatory pre-buy inspection and then in accordance with the Boeing 747 Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) create a bridge check a D-Check / Max Heavy Check on a former Japan Airline 747-400 and manage the D-Check. The plane was going to then the new Iraqi Govt. for their so called Hajj Commission and deliver the plane in the 3rd qtr of 2010. Well it appear we may be see Victorville California again in 2020 and again with the same type of aircraft.

Today, I was advised that I have been nominated and selected as the Miami-Homestead, Chapter 317th, Air Force Association (AFA) chapter member for 2019. I have been a stronger supporter of the organization and its aerospace education to our youth since 2006. Yup, I am inspiring to be the AFA Florida President in the future. Imagine that a Navy Squid like me wiggling up the AFA hierarchy.

As one who at a tender age worked one of the world most dangerous job, the realm of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier flight deck and was warned and knew the danger of jet intakes, here is something that U.S. Naval Aviation (NAVAIR) should consider from our Russian friends. Look at the main engine intakes on this Yak-130, they have panels that close while taxing so as to prevent Foreign Object Damage i.e. FOD from being ingested and damaging an engine while mitigating the fact of a ground personnel being stuck up. Intake air to feed the engine come from above. At take off or in the U.S.Navy case while securely on the catapults, all personnel cleared and before full engine throttle up, the engine intake panels open an off you go! To me this Yak-130 intake set up makes allot of sense.

Surprised that no one within our circles of friends have pinged on Indian Mig-21 "Bison" shooting down a P**istan F-16. In listening to a report by Major General Ravi Arora (Ret.) Editor & Chief st Indian DEFEXPO its amazing that a retro fitted Mig-21 got a one up on the P**i F-16. The P**istan F-16 came to them way of Turkey a Block 50 / 52 series, but dam to have been bagged by a Mig-21 which date back to 1963 and was modified back in 2006 must be an ego buster to the P**istani pilot.
