A couple of shots from my new dash cam on my evening commute on MD-32 in Howard County. Catching sight of this deck of stratocumulus clouds building over central MD that are also appearing in IR imagery. My dash cam is ready for storm interception season- better be starting soon! Stratocumulus clouds looming over at the beginning of my evening commute at 6:00pm EST. After an another spring-like day here in MD, the building stratocumulus clouds are a sign of warm advection and destabilizing atmosphere. eweather Skye Weather

The February 23, 2026 Atlantic bomb cyclone-blizzard has been showing remarkable structural characteristics suggestive of a possible embedded tropical cyclone with an "eye" feature located about 150 miles S-SE of Cape Cod at 10:00 am EST. GOES-19 visible imagery shows a primary rainband flanking the northern periphery of the eye, with NOAA buoy 44008, 54 NM Southeast of Nantucket, on the northern flank of the primary rainband near the time downburst-like wind gusts of 43 knots were recorded by the buoy wind sensor. The GOES-19 sounding profile near the eye exhibited a potentially unstable atmosphere with a mid-upper tropospheric dry layer overlying a surface-based deep moist layer. This dry-over-moist atmospheric configuration favors intense thunderstorm development with the potential to generate strong downburst/outflow winds that can be enhanced by strong vertical wind shear. Will be watching for any further high wind reports by buoys or ships in the vicinity of the storm center that could further verify these tropical convective processes. Skye Weather
