As the Purple Line Light Rail project moves closer to the finish line, weโre proud to reflect on the major milestones achieved over the past two months:
โ All 28 Light Rail Vehicles arrived at the Operations & Maintenance Facility weeks ahead of schedule
โ Dynamic testing is underway in two sections
โ Track installation is more than 80% complete across the alignment, with all track in Prince Georgeโs County now in place
โ Sligo Creek Parkway reopened to traffic
โ Overhead Catenary System wire installation to reach 50% completion
โ Art-in-Transit installation completed at Bethesda Station
Once complete, this new 16-mile transit system will connect communities from Bethesda to New Carrollton, link riders to Metro, MARC, and Amtrak services, reduce traffic by an estimated 17,000 vehicle trips daily, and support sustainable development across the region.
Maryland Transit Solutionsโa joint venture of FlatironDragados and OHLA USAโis proud to lead the design and construction of this transformative project. We would like to thank our clients and stakeholders for their support and guidance in advancing the project to this point:
