McDermott Construction is seeking a seasoned Commercial Construction Superintendent for upcoming projects in the Austin area. Candidates from the Austin area are preferred, but we will consider candidates that live in the College Station area that are willing to travel.
Job Description:
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications, hold safety and subcontractor coordination meetings, generate daily reporting, manage subcontractors, solicit and obtain
minor trades, equipment and job-related items as needed. Acquire temp labor forces when needed, be proactive and not re-active in performance of job, able to travel out of town at times when needed (most current projects are in Central Texas region at this time).
Understand project budgets and assist in maintaining budgets, and subcontractor (trade) scopes. Must be a leader and a professional at all times as will interact with clients on regular basis.

Duties:
The Project Superintendent's principal duty is to properly schedule the work of the crews, equipment and subcontractors to achieve maximum production in the most efficient manner.
In order to carry out this overall duty, the following duties must be properly fulfilled:
-Properly layout a project, making certain that the proper grades are followed and the structure is accurately located.
-Review the job schedule and cost breakdown, resolving all potential scope deficiencies with Project Manager at the beginning of the job.
-See that the safety regulations are followed by company and subcontractor crews. Safety meetings must be adequately attended.
-Have a thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications for each project assigned.
-Maintain a high standard of quality control and job site cleanliness at all times.
-Ascertain that safety barricades are in proper place and safety lights properly operating.
-Keep the progress schedule current, review schedule status and job costs at least once
each month.
-Ensure that the project is secured each night.
-Ensure that all change orders are properly executed and indicated on as-built plans.
-Attend pre-construction and construction meetings, taking notes on areas that may present a future problem and present to the Owner for consultation.
-Assist inspectors on their project reviews.
-Maintain good relationships with inspectors, architects, subcontractors and other key people connected with the project.
-Attend, on request, all technical meetings for the purpose of discussing job progress and problem areas.
-Maintain close communication with Owner on any unforeseen problems which may develop.
-Assist Director of Operations in estimating percent completion of each item for monthly invoicing
Position will be subject to a 90 day probationary period to evaluate performance
Position may require overnight travel outside of the Central Texas Area
Required experience:
Commercial Superintendent: 5 years
