This month we would like to highlight Jeff Mead, a Hydro Vac Operator at Vector Services in Washington! Having passed his one year mark with the company, Jeff’s day-to-day focus is centered on operating safely and keeping customers happy, though he'll tell you that the absolute best part of his job is the fantastic team he gets to work alongside. For anyone looking to jump into this field, Jeff offers some straightforward, golden advice: get a CDL. When he’s off the clock, Jeff loves shifting his focus to what matters most, spending quality time with his wife, Sarah, and their two kids, Jack and Luke.

Today we recognize the incredible strength and fortitude of all servicemen and women, both veterans and active duty, in our Armed Forces branches. Our military roots helped build and guide Vector from our foundational level up to the present day and our drive to serve others with discipline comes directly from our veteran-led teams and strong military ties. We pay our respects to those who served and continue to serve today.

Vector Services is proud to highlight Kenyon Nolden, a dedicated Sewer Camera Operator based in Missouri who has been an essential part of our team for over seven years. Specializing in sewer infrastructure mapping, Kenyon operates sophisticated RC camera equipment to conduct vital inspections that keep our communities running smoothly. He takes great pride in knowing that his precise data prevents massive logistical issues for the city, emphasizing that the immense attention to detail required in his role is what keeps essential services reliable. Vector is honored to announce the recipient of the 2025 Commander’s Coin, Angelo Foust from the Toledo, OH Sewer Cam team. Angelo’s bravery and quick action helped save the life of a member of the public.

On April 30th, 2025, Angelo Foust reported to work as usual. Upon arrival, they completed their paperwork and set up the work zone. As they began their daily tasks, their morning took an unexpected turn. While out locating, Angelo heard the screech of brakes followed by a loud crash. Realizing that the busy Brancroft Street was just a block away, Angelo radioed his fellow crew member, Rene, suggesting they check for an accident and see if emergency services were needed. As they rounded the corner, they saw a severe accident. One driver was slumped over the steering wheel, unconscious. Rene immediately called 911 and retrieved the first aid kit and AED from the camera truck. Angelo approached the vehicle but found the door jammed due to the collision. Other motorists and pedestrians stopped to help, with one pedestrian assisting Angelo in trying to open the doors. Suddenly, the car began to smoke, and a nearby homeowner shouted that the front of the car was catching fire. The pedestrian quickly fetched a wrench from his car and broke the driver's side window.

Together, Angelo and the pedestrian pulled the driver out and moved him across the street to safety. Within a minute, the car was engulfed in flames. Rene returned with the first aid kit and AED, and together, they managed to revive the driver, who was injured and coughing up blood. Just as Rene prepared the AED, the rescue squad arrived and took over. Several officers and firefighters commended Rene and Angelo, thanking them repeatedly for their life-saving actions.

Please join us in congratulating Angelo for his outstanding actions.

April is Safe Digging Month and Vector is proud to emphasize our commitment to protecting underground infrastructure through the use of hydro excavation. This non-destructive technique utilizes pressurized water and high-powered vacuums to clear soil with surgical precision, allowing us to safely expose sensitive gas, water, and fiber optic lines. By choosing this method over traditional mechanical equipment, we dramatically reduce the risk of utility damage, ensuring that site safety and community reliability remain at the forefront of every project.

At Vector Services, safety isn’t just a protocol, it’s a responsibility led by people like Brian Moeckel.
In his two years with us, Brian has risen to the role of General Foreman, supervising the traffic control teams that keep our infrastructure projects moving. For Brian, the job is about much more than just placing cones; he views himself as the "final line of defense" for his crew’s lives. There is a deep sense of pride in managing a complex, high-traffic setup and knowing that, because of his team's precision, everyone gets home safely at the end of the shift.Brian’s pro-tip for the field? "Master the radio and stay calm." He knows firsthand that clear, decisive communication is often the only thing standing between a smooth operation and a safety incident. When the vest comes off, Brian is all about family. Whether he’s at the grill for a weekend BBQ or just hanging out with his kids, he makes sure his off time is dedicated to the people who matter most.

Thank you, Brian, for your leadership, your expertise, and your unwavering commitment to the Vector team!
