Installing a macerator under a permit? Certification matters more than price.
For plumbers, remodelers, and contractors, installing a non-certified macerating toilet system is not just an inspection risk, it can become a code violation, liability issue, and even a licensing concern.
Both the IPC and UPC require macerating toilet systems to comply with ASME A112.3.4/CSA B45.9 and be installed according to manufacturer instructions. Products without recognized third-party certification may fail inspection, create insurance complications, and expose contractors to unnecessary risk.
This is especially important because macerators are electrical products used in wet environments. Proper certification helps verify both plumbing performance and electrical safety.
Before installing a customer-supplied low-cost import, contractors should confirm the product is listed by a recognized certification body, such as CSA Group. If it cannot be verified, the safest professional choice is to recommend a certified alternative.
At SFA Saniflo, our current product lineup is certified by CSA Group to ASME A112.3.4/CSA B45.9, with documentation available for permit packages and technical support in the U.S.
Your license, reputation, and client trust are worth more than the savings on a non-certified product.
