With 40+ years in refined fuels and renewable energy, Paul Oesterreich brings deep project experience across process engineering, plant operations, operations planning and optimization, product trading and transportation, and environmental permitting.

Since co‑founding Strategic Biofuels, Paul has been responsible for the project’s inbound and outbound supply chains, has developed deep knowledge of regional forestry feedstock markets including sustainability, and directs environmental permitting for the Louisiana Green Fuels project.

A major milestone for Strategic Biofuels and the future of clean energy in Louisiana.

Oil & Gas Journal recently covered the Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy’s approval of our final Class VI permit for Louisiana Green Fuels — the first multi-well carbon sequestration permit issued by the state.

This permitting milestone clears the way for our LGF project to advance its carbon-neutral power generation and permanent CO2 storage plans, demonstrating how proven technology, the right geology, local support and a clear market need can come together to deliver scalable clean energy solutions.

Strategic Biofuels has reached a major milestone in advancing Louisiana’s next clean energy project.

The company has received its final Class VI Sequestration Well Permit from the Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy, moving the Louisiana Green Fuels project in Caldwell Parish another significant step forward.

The permit is the first issued in Louisiana for a carbon sequestration project that includes multiple injection wells and provides permanent storage capacity for CO2 associated with up to 600 MW of carbon-negative electric power generation.

The Louisiana Green Fuels project is designed to pair renewable power generation from sustainable forestry feedstocks with carbon capture and permanent geological sequestration, helping deliver reliable, 24/7 clean energy for industrial customers and the broader power grid.

This milestone also underscores Louisiana’s continued leadership in energy innovation, bringing together proven technology, strong local support and the state’s unique geology to advance responsible carbon capture and storage.
