Phage display is a high-throughput technology that is used to discover polypeptide-based ligands. The phage particles are genetically engineered to display random sequences on the viral coat proteins. Smith at the University of Missouri, for which he was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2018). Specifically, he used filamentous phage to create a library of random
displayed peptides. We currently carry a linear 15-mer peptide library (fUSE5) based on the original phage display systems by Dr. George Smith. This random peptide library exhibits excellent diversity and is proven to result in selection of high-specificity ligands with numerous research articles evidencing its efficacy.
