Last Thursday marked the official groundbreaking for the Historic Marion County Library renovation and expansion. We are incredibly proud to provide architectural and engineering support to breathe new life into this beautiful building. Did you know? This landmark is one of only 13 Carnegie Foundation funded libraries built in South Carolina and one of just six that still functions as a public library today! Our design expands the space to meet growing needs while carefully preserving every ounce of its rich historic charm.

Designing spaces that work harder for the communities they serve.

For this comprehensive Agricultural Center for Laurens County, the GMK Design-Build team transformed the campus by completely renovating a flexible multi-purpose exhibition building, designing and connecting a modern tie barn directly to it, and adding an adjacent covered horse arena and warm-up pen. Developed through continuous collaboration with the owner, stakeholders, and future users, the final complex serves as a dynamic regional destination for agricultural competitions, equestrian sports, and community and county events. From specialized livestock circulation and enhanced animal welfare features to adaptable event spaces and an RV/trailer parking lot with power and water hookups, every decision focused on delivering long-term value and a facility that easily adapts to the county's needs.

Our GMK Division Day, hosted by the Architecture Division and held at Escapology, was filled with teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of fun. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a success!

West of Vine in Cardinal Crossing ran into an unexpected roadblock while working toward their planned opening and reached out to GMK for support with obtaining stamped drawings needed for their building permit.

GMK immediately coordinated with the local permitting office to confirm exactly what was required. From there, we quickly produced and submitted the stamped drawings, followed up to ensure they were received, and stayed engaged throughout the review process to address any questions without delay.

The result: approved drawings with no comments or exceptions, keeping the project on track for opening.

At GMK, we focus on responsive coordination and clear communication to help projects move forward efficiently and without unnecessary delays.

We're proud to congratulate Midlands Technical College students Cynthia Aranda, Magdalena Aranda Ojeda, and Karina Rendon on earning a SARA California Merit Design Award and educational grants for their project, "El Encuentro" or "The Finding".
