Yes, this is 3D printed, with NO additional postprocessing. Our Mimaki 3DUJ-553 builds parts layer by layer using UV-curable inks, allowing essentially infinite color capabilities, fine texture, and small visual details to be incorporated directly into the print instead of added later with traditional painting. This dinosaur head is a good example of just how detailed and realistic full-color additive manufacturing can get.

With roughly 6,000 builds completed over the last five years, MJF is a process we know well. Here’s a quick breakdown of how it works, from spreading each layer of powder and applying fusing and detailing agents to controlling bed temperature and forming the final parts. MJF is especially efficient for densely packed builds because each layer takes roughly the same amount of time regardless of how many parts are in the job.
