Today on Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day began after the Civil War as a day to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. Today, it stands as a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the sacrifice made by those who gave all.

Today, on Armed Forces Day, we pause to recognize and thank the men and women currently serving in the United States military.

Observed each year on the third Saturday in May, Armed Forces Day was created to honor the dedication and service of all active-duty, Reserve, and National Guard members across every branch of the U.S. military. It’s a day to recognize the commitment, sacrifice, and courage it takes to protect our nation and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

To all those actively serving our country, we honor and thank you.

It is with tremendous honor and excitement that we share that Humtown President & CEO, Mark Lamoncha, has been named the 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

As a third-generation, family-owned business, Humtown’s story has always been rooted in the American dream – the belief that a small business can make a big impact. To receive a national award like this, personally presented by the President of the United States, is a truly humbling reminder of just how alive and well that dream still is.

We are deeply grateful to Kelly Loeffler and the entire U.S. Small Business Administration for this recognition, and thankful for the many ways America's SBDC continues to support the 36 million small businesses across the country, just like us.
