Happy National Chemistry Week! The Columbus Section of ACS is accepting entries for the K-12 Illustrated Poem Contest. This year’s theme is Fabulous Fibers: The Chemistry of Fabrics! There will be cash and chemistry related prizes. Rules can be found at bit.ly/NCWpoems and entries submitted to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 26. Winners of the local contest will also be entered into the National Contest.

It's not too late to join our first Younger Chemist Committee (YCC) event of the the year! Come join us for a relaxing evening of golfing, dinner and networking at Topgolf. Chemists age 35 and under are welcome on Saturday September 18th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. The cost, including dinner, is $10 for ACS members and $15 for non-members. RSVP by September 17th to [email protected].

The Columbus Local Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is hosting an illustrated poem contest for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade around the CCEW theme, “Reducing Our Footprint with Chemistry." Entries must be sponsored by a local school or community group for verification purposes.

Contest Deadline: Sunday, May 2 (previously April 25), 2021 at 11:59 PM Eastern
Local Prizes: Cash, Books, science kit(s). Sponsoring Teachers of winners also win

Winners of the Columbus Local Section’s Illustrated Poem Contest will advance to the National Illustrated Poem Contest for a chance to be featured on the ACS website and to win prizes!

Write and illustrate a poem using the CCEW theme, “Reducing Our Footprint with Chemistry.” Your poem must be no more than 40 words and will be judged on artistic merit, poem message, originality and creativity and neatness (no spelling or grammatical errors).

As part of Chemists Celebrate Earth Week each year, ACS sponsors an illustrated poem contest for K-12 students.
