Celebrating 15 years of commitment to the extraordinary.

On the first day of the newly formed Master PT, 15 years ago this week, I spoke to the whole team saying that our new private company presented us with a unique opportunity to be product focused, customer focused, principle focused and to build a special future together. Most importantly, I said to the team “I believe in you.”

Today, I am filled with gratitude for that team that I believe in more than ever. I am grateful for the incredible ride we have been on together and how hard our team has worked as we climb new hills. I am so proud of our company that stands for much more than business success. We care about our customers. We care about our products. We care about each other. And we’re just getting started…

Fifty years. Quite the accomplishment, and MPT is fortunate that Terry has achieved that milestone while working with us! Terry started working when he was 16 years old alongside his father at the Edinburgh Block Company. Shortly thereafter and after a year at Arvin’s, Terry hired in at the Reliance/Dodge Reeves plant as an automatic lathe operator. Over the next 50 years, Terry has worked in many different areas of the plant across several different product lines including CNC turning, manual lathe machining, inspection, tool setter, babbitter, and, most recently, running two CNC vertical mills. “The vertical mills have been my favorite job, so far, and I’ve been doing it since 2010”, Terry noted.

In 50 years, Terry has seen a lot of changes. One thing that doesn’t change is the quality of the people with which he works. Terry said that although there are lots of differences in the different generations of people that work at MPT, he sees value in all of them, and it’s the people with which he works that he really enjoys about the job. Today, the variety and challenge of the part-to-part changeovers as well as the satisfaction of running production keep Terry interested and fired up about working at MPT.

“Looking back, it’s been exciting to witness the growth of the business and see, many times, firsthand, the success of the customers who use our products”, noted Terry over lunch a few days ago. When asked about lessons learned in his time at MPT, he mentioned how important it is to take care of customers as at the end of the day, the customers take care of us. Thinking about the future of MPT, he’s excited about continuous improvement on our world-class manufacturing path while continuing to maintain the solid respect and care for each other and our communities.

For Terry in particular, after 50 years of walking the talk and getting the job done, he’s in no hurry to slow down. When asked if retirement is something he’s thinking about today, he responded with “I’m a little older than forty, but that’s how I still feel! As long as I can continue to contribute, I’m excited about being part of this team!”.

Terry, congratulations on achieving a very tough-to-hit milestone and thank you for playing a significant role in the success MPT.

Congratulations to our very own, Michael Cinquemani. He is this year's recipient of the prestigious Warren Pike award, which recognizes an individual for lifetime achievement in the power transmission/motion control industry. Michael was nominated and selected due to his selfless support and many personal contributions (volunteering and leading on multiple councils, task forces, etc.) and NEVER saying “no” when asked for help.

Thank you, Michael, for representing MPT so well. We are very proud of you, and thankful for your selfless leadership in our organization, our communities, and our industry.

35 years. Quite the accomplishment. After starting in the cast iron machining department back in 1987, James “Pup” White (Pup, as his father, James Sr., was “Big Dog” while working at the plant for many years!) eventually focused his talent around the precision assembly of Master PT gearboxes. At one time, he was instrumental in the development and assembly of several OEM specific special gearboxes, and was intimately involved with the customer users as he supported their maintenance and planned repairs within their facility. Through his 35 years with MPT, Pup has been not only involved in the direct assembly of gearboxes, but has made a positive impact in several key functions including Quality, Plant Engineering, and the management and support of our strong shop floor production team. Today, Pup leads 100% of our precision build and test operations, with our new hires learning from his vast experience in all aspects of right angle and parallel gearbox assembly. To this day, he continues to be recognized as a highly regarded expert in assembly and is a strong asset in providing support for customers when they find themselves in tricky applications, and need an expert opinion on the “why’s and what’s” regarding how Master gearboxes integrate into their production system.
Master is very fortunate to have a man like Pup on our team, and are thrilled that he has spent his career ensuring we’re Faster@Master. Congratulations, Pup, on 35 years of outstanding service!
