New Avenue Architects & Engineers Architecture and Engineering Firm Between our four managing partners, we have over 50 years of combined experience in Architecture and Structural Engineering.

New Avenue Architects and Engineers is an Architecture and Engineering firm located in Upper Arlington, Ohio, specializing in architecture and engineering services for commercial and residential design projects. We founded the company in January 2010 by merging M2 Design Group, a structural engineering and building design company located in Worthington, and New Avenue Architects, an architecture firm in Dublin. After our two firms successfully worked together on multiple joint projects, we established New Avenue Architects and Engineers to bring together our combined architecture and engineering services to create an integrated and harmonious approach to the design process for our clients. We carry professional Architecture and Engineering licenses in Ohio and multiple other states across the country. We also carry National Certified Building Designer certifications, are Certified Green Professionals, and are accredited Verifiers for the NAHB National Green Building Standard program.

When people hear “architect,” they usually picture a custom home. But some of the spaces that shape daily life most are the ones we all share: the school where a child learns to read, the apartment building on a busy corner, the community where neighbors actually get to know each other.

Designing for a community carries a different kind of responsibility. More people rely on the space, more codes apply, and the structure has to work quietly for decades.

A lot of the smartest parts of a building are the ones you’ll never see once it’s finished.

Construction is moving along on this approximately 6,300-square-foot addition at Tree of Life in Clintonville, where our structural team designed a system that includes concrete foundations, masonry walls, structural steel and RedBuilt roof trusses.

What’s interesting about those trusses?
Their open design gives all of the things that need to travel through a building, like HVAC, plumbing and electrical, a place to go through the structure rather than around it. That means the different building systems can work together more efficiently without cutting or drilling through solid framing.

It’s one of those behind-the-walls details most people will never notice, but it takes a lot of coordination to get right.

A recent site visit to the future home of Eastern Bay. 

After years on Riverside Drive, Eastern Bay is getting ready for its next chapter with a new location on Bethel Road, right next to its sister restaurant, Hey Broth Asian Street Food!

We were happy to be part of that next chapter, designing the new space and now getting to see those plans take shape during construction.

We love walking through a project at this stage and seeing what started on paper becoming a real place.

When you’re designing a home surrounded by trees, the landscape becomes part of the architecture.

Window placement, natural light, views, materials and even how the home sits on the property all come into play. This addition is a great example of designing with the surroundings rather than simply building within them.

A good set of drawings is only the beginning.

Every project we design eventually lands in the hands of the people who have to build it.

Carpenters, framers, masons, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, welders, finish crews and so many others take lines on a page and turn them into real spaces for people to live, work and gather.

We appreciate the skill they bring to the job and the collaboration that happens when architects, engineers, builders and trades work together to solve problems in the field.

You’d never know it by looking at the finished building, but there’s a lot happening inside these walls.

For this approximately 12,800-square-foot addition at Tree of Life Christian Schools on Karl Road, our structural team designed a system that includes concrete foundations, structural steel framing, steel bar joists, and masonry walls.

One of the more interesting pieces? The exterior walls use specialized 12-inch HI-R-H insulated concrete masonry units.

The system combines structural load-bearing capacity with integrated insulation. Factory-placed insulation inserts within the masonry help create a continuous thermal barrier and minimize thermal bridging, while the wall can still be fully grouted where needed for structural strength.

It’s the kind of detail most people will never notice when they walk into the finished building.

There’s something about a mountain home that makes us ready for fall. 🍂

As summer starts to wind down, we can already picture this Tennessee home surrounded by changing leaves and a completely different view from every window.

Designed as a place to settle into retirement, the home was carefully positioned to make the most of its mountainside setting and surrounding views. Its partially timber-framed design brings in the warmth and character of classic mountain architecture while feeling right at home in the landscape.

A home designed not just for where you live, but for how you want to spend the years ahead.
