Safety Tip: Did you recently have your roof replaced due to hail storms? Here are some things to check.
1. If you smell gas, IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY AT THE TANK!! and call your propane supplier to come check out the system. Sometimes roofing nails can enter the attic space and pierce gas lines causing leaks.
2. Make sure your appliance venting is correctly installed. During the roofing process joints may become dislodged or the roof jack may be missed.
3. Clear roofing debris off the appliances in the attic. Nails, wood fragments, etc
4. After construction is complete, check that water heaters, furnaces, fireplaces, generators, and other propane appliances are operating normally.
If your home recently had a roof replaced, take a few minutes to inspect propane vents, gas lines, and regulators. A quick safety check can help prevent leaks, equipment damage, and potential carbon monoxide hazards. When in doubt, contact your propane supplier for an inspection.
