We have some pretty exciting stuff happening this week. Er****on of the new shop building begins, we're assembling the fist of an updated version of our large transom, and we're tying up the rest of the parts for the large awning systems that we've been working on for the new shop. In the meantime, we wanted to share a neat project, which we're quite happy to have knocked out at the end of last month.
The Miller 252 MIG welder that we have had since the start of Silver Lake Fabrication was showing its age, and simply wasn't a joy to use any more. We've been watching EverlastWeldersUSA build their product line and reputation over the past few years and decided to give their 273DPi a try. After running through about 40 pounds of 0.035 mild steel wire building our awning brackets, we've determined that this machine is everything that we wished the last welder was. Needless to say, we're really happy with this new green box, so we needed to build a welding cart, and here's what we came up with:
The new cart is a fully stainless steel unit and has a nice Harbor Freight tool cabinet rolling with it for part and accessory storage. We still need to make a handle for the front of the cart, but otherwise, it's complete and working great!
As a heads-up, we're going to be closed from 10/14 through 10/18 for a quick break. Production of floats will not halt during this period, but we will only be reachable by email, text, or WhatsApp during this period. If you need to get an order sorted, please reach out this week to get into the production que.
We sure hope that everyone has a wonderful week, and thanks for following along!
