Today Jesus was betrayed.
Today Jesus was abandoned by his followers,
Today Jesus was denied,
and
Today Jesus was crucified at the Cross after a “trial” by Pontius Pilate and the people.
This is the part that makes me angry EVERY TIME, year after year.
““Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner to the crowd—anyone they wanted. This year there was a notorious prisoner, a man named Barabbas. As the crowds gathered before Pilate’s house that morning, he asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you—Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?””
Matthew 27:15-17
The people go on to choose Barabbas.... a man guilty of murder.
Why were the people swayed to side with the leading priests and elders as they called out the name of Jesus Christ and “CRUCIFY” him?
On that day, Jesus took the place of one man named Barabbas.
A man who “deserved” the punishment of his crime.
A man who had not lived a “perfect” life like Christ has.
Then it hit me.
My anger subsided, and i finally grasped the love of Christ.
I’m Barabbas, You’re Barabbas.
By His actions, He actually took the place of all mankind.
We didnt deserve it, just as much as Barabbas didn’t.
The Bible tells us that because of our sin we all have a price to pay; we have all earned death.
However, Jesus did not sin; therefore, He did not earn death. Nevertheless, He chose to die to pay the price for us.
His life is a gift for anyone who will receive.
It Is Finished.
