Did you see the article in this month's Today's Grocer magazine on how to leverage your food bar to win over budget-conscious shoppers? Inflation has consumers trading restaurant meals for grocery foodservice...buying exactly what they need by weight to control budgets and eliminate food waste. Forward-thinking retailers are winning this "casual dining" budget by leveraging versatile food bar islands to anchor a "hybrid meal" strategy (such as pairing a deli rotisserie chicken with hot, fresh sides). Stop treating your food bar like an isolated island and turn it into your store's ultimate value destination.

"We didn’t just oversee the project; we engineered the workflow."

Successful rollouts aren't built on old blueprints. They are built on real-time data and hand-in-hand collaboration between engineers and field techs.

At Hillphoenix® AMS Group, we put "meat on the bone" for national rollouts through:
1. On-site Surveys: Matching the SOW to reality, not just drawings.
2. Dedicated Warehousing: We receive and stage equipment so it's ready when the site is.
3. Software-Driven Management: Giving you a "bird’s-eye view" of every site’s progress.

Are you mapping out what your future store needs include? Sustainable refrigeration remains top of mind for food retailers which directly impacts their bottom line.

Hillphoenix has multiple solutions for retailers to help achieve their store of tomorrow goals, and one of those solutions includes a full range of R-290 self-contained cases covering everything from small single-deck spot merchandisers to large multi-door reach-ins.

Propane (R-290) is a natural refrigerant, which means you’re completely safe from future regulatory bans. But from a practical, human perspective, here is what actually matters on the store floor:
• When it comes to installation and usage, most R-290 systems have minimal downtime since these systems are not complex to use and are practically plug and play.
• R-290 display cases can be easily moved around the store and quickly plugged into an available electrical outlet.
• Due to its inherent, excellent thermodynamic properties, R-290 permits a smaller refrigerant charge per system, which results in lower operating costs and higher store savings without sacrificing performance.

One month you're trying to figure out how to squeeze a high-volume grab-and-go section into a tight 2,000 sq. ft. convenience store. The next, you're looking for a way to create a seasonal promotional zone in the middle of a massive 100,000 sq. ft. big box layout.

Many people were of the opinion that refrigeration had to be rigid, but Hillphoenix is proving that flexibility is the future. Our R-290 self-contained lineup is versatile.

It doesn’t matter if you need:
• A low-profile single-deck case to keep sightlines open in the center of the store
• A high-impact multi-deck open case for quick-grab deli items.
• Full-size reach-in glass door cases to maximize your frozen or chilled capacity.

From big box to corner C-stores, or anything in between…flexible plug-and-play setup is changing the game for store layouts. Check out the Hillphoenix portfolio and start planning your versatility!

July 4th is upon us, however food retails are already planning for the next big holidays for the Q3 and Q4…Labor Day (Sept. 7), back to school, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Perhaps a store refresh for the second half of the year is in order, but a refresh doesn’t have to be loud or messy when it comes to refrigeration. For years, updating your refrigeration meant tearing things up to run long, complex lines back to a central rack.

But it doesn't have to be a headache anymore.

Instead of weeks of construction, you’re looking at a true "plug and play" setup for a refresh. Whether you need a low-profile single-deck island for fresh meat and seafood, or a massive wall of high-capacity glass-door reach-ins Hillphoenix has a solution.

The beauty of it? With our R-290 Second Nature® Natural self-contained display cases, you set the display case, plug it in, let it reach optimal temperature and start stocking shelves the same day.

If you're planning a quick refresh for your next holiday, consider Hillphoenix Second Nature® Natural display cases…it’s the natural choice!

If you didn’t attend 2026, here’s a strong recap of one of the case studies was proud to be part of.

-ee’s first Ohio travel center in Huber Heights shows how Hillphoenix CO2 refrigeration can support the demands of a 24/7, high-volume operation. According to Buc-ee’s, its travel centers can draw more customers in a single weekend than Major League Baseball attracts over an entire season.

For this location, Buc-ee’s selected a refrigeration design built around redundancy, uptime, and long-term performance, including two Hillphoenix transcritical CO2 Flex Mini units. The system also delivers approximately 12% annual energy savings compared to R448A, while providing heat reclaim for hot water.

Read the recap to learn more about the Buc-ee’s project and how Hillphoenix is helping retailers implement CO2 solutions today!

Buc-ee’s has opened its first travel center with CO2 refrigeration in Huber Heights, Ohio, with CO2 the prototype for all new stores.
