Important Update: New Refrigerant Regulation – R-454B
We want to keep our valued customers informed about an important change in the HVAC industry that may impact your systems and service options moving forward.
A new refrigerant regulation has gone into effect, transitioning the industry away from high-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants like R-410A to more environmentally friendly alternatives. One of the most significant changes is the introduction of R-454B, a low-GWP refrigerant that will become the standard for many new HVAC systems.
What You Need to Know:
• R-454B is a next-generation refrigerant with a much lower environmental impact than R-410A.
• It is part of the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and comply with the AIM Act and other international climate agreements.
• New systems manufactured from 2025 onward will increasingly be designed to use R-454B.
• R-454B is classified as an A2L refrigerant, meaning it is mildly flammable and must be handled with specific safety considerations.
What This Means for You:
• Older systems using R-410A will still be serviceable, but new units will be designed for R-454B.
• Servicing requirements may change, and our team is fully trained and certified to handle both current and future refrigerants.
• If you’re considering a system replacement or installation in the near future, it’s a good time to discuss your options.
We’re committed to helping you navigate this transition smoothly. Our team is here to answer any questions you have and ensure your HVAC systems remain safe, efficient, and compliant.
