It’s the last month of Q2, and in my world, Q2 is alignment. So I hope you’re choosing to align with peace, joy, and the truest version of you.

It’s the 6th month of the year 2026. Mid-year is fast approaching, and I have yet to wish you all a Blessed 2026.

A little late in the game, but it’s never too late to wish you the best this year has to offer, peace in the midst of chaos, healing, sustainable growth, and dreams that become realities.

The word is Release.

Foundation pillars remain stronger than ever: God, Family, Community.

So, however this year is showing up for you, remember to choose to live and choose joy. There is no set timeline—only you get to decide the pace. No matter what people or society say, the choice remains yours, as that is not done until you!

So I pray that “you choose to live, right here, right now, may love be the loudest sound…
May you walk through the fire, survive the rain, and dance…
May you choose to see beauty in the cracks…
May you choose to see joy at the door calling your name…”

I choose to live, right here and now, and I hope you do too.

The load transfers back to the earth.

Have you done a soil report? Have you assessed the natural state, the physical properties of who you are, before you start building?

In Structural Engineering, the load of the Structure transfers to the ground upon which it rests.
You must first assess the soil conditions, conduct geotechnical testing, and prepare a soil report. A soil report will reveal that some soil characteristics are inadequate for the type of Structures you want to build. So you must excavate, remove, and bring new soil if necessary, or improve the existing soil before you can provide the proper foundation.
Because the natural state of the soil, the properties of the soil matter, or better yet, are critical to support the appropriate foundation that supports the Structure.

The loads transfer back to the earth.

Let that sink in for a minute & now let’s compare it to our lives.

Have you done a soil report? Have you assessed the natural state, the physical properties of who you are, before you start building? Do you need to excavate, remove, bring new soil, or improve the existing soil conditions to support the Structure you’re building?
Because if shallow foundations are adequate for a single-story home, they’re not sufficient for a high-rise building. For the foundation to support the vision, it might require new soil or improving the current properties of the existing soil. What are you building?

The most important work often happens when no one is watching. It might take 6 months to prepare the site, and all that everyone sees is a vacant lot and equipment clearing the site and moving dirt around.

What are you building? You must know the loads that your dreams carry. And if your dreams require deep foundations, then you must improve the soil and focus on preparing the site, one pile at a time.

It starts with you! Your inner core must be able to withstand the load when it comes to pass, because the load transfers back to the earth.

To my family, who is a testament that I’m one of God’s favorites, words are not enough to express my love and gratitude. This journey is possible only because of your inspiration, motivation, accountability, covering, and love.

This is Joy!

So much more needs to be said, but first, I want to take a moment to appreciate a couple of Haitian 🇭🇹 queens honing their craft and capturing this Woman in Construction surrendering by owning all of who she is.
ameyphotography, who gently reinforced the idea of rebranding and made sure it happened even though it took a year to schedule (because IYKYK, this is not my thing).

From warning me to let her do her job 😁 by allowing the makeup artist to do her thing to .artistry patiently working her magic with .ameyphotography calling me to order a couple of times 😅, this was more than a rebranding session.

Their patience, artistry, excellence, and perfectionism aligned to make this day more than a session but a moment of Grace, Inspiration, and pure Joy.

Educational Series- Understanding the Basics of Construction Estimating.

Early in my career, I remember that one of my tasks as part of the estimating team was to go in the field to monitor and cost code equipment timesheets, then review and analyze the monthly report against the original estimate as we monitored the current productivity and updated our estimating cost index at the end of the project. From creating bid packages and scope sheets to writing a scope of work, managing the change order process, and leading the project team lessons learned that provide feedback from the estimate to the project’s closeout, I’ve seen the life cycle of the construction estimates. It’s not only one of the tools that win the job but also one of the essential tools for success. Your estimate can lead to a successful project, partnership, and historical data or NOT.

One thing we're going to do is prepare and study because I don't know, maybe because I'm a lifelong learner, maybe it is the engineer in me that must prove the facts, but mostly because we need to provide correct information and make it available to everyone. I don't take it lightly when I lend my voice because it's a responsibility. It should be more than just an opinion; it's only fair to bring the data, the facts, the case studies.
