Was your home a little uncomfortable this morning? Did you have to fight your hair extra because it was trying to frizz, even though you went through your same morning routine? You had the thermostat set the same as always? This picture likely shows what the problem is.
With the decreased temperatures, especially overnight, and precipitation we’ve had the last couple of days, the humidity is up. Yes, even inside your home.
As a machine, all your AC knows it’s doing is removing humidity. The cold air, is just a byproduct of that dehumidification process. That’s why we call them Air Conditioners, not just air coolers. When temperatures drop, traditional units don’t run as much. Thus, humidity isn’t conditioned out effectively.
Most consider that a good thing. It’s not running, so it’s saving us money, right?
Not necessarily. When the humidity is higher in your home, you’ll likely drop the thermostat a couple of degrees. So you lose efficiency, simply by having to run at that lower temperature.
Traditional units and thermostats, don’t monitor humidity. Modern units have increased efficiency, comfort, monitoring and control built in. Smart phone capabilities make it even better.
Save money on utilities while being as comfortable as possible in your home. Many options are available.
