❄️12 Days of SKUs❄️ “CBD gummies” or other cannabinoid isolate edibles are quickly becoming more popular. CBD Extraction is the process of isolating and extracting Cannabidiol from the base cannabis plant material using some form of a solvent such as a hydrocarbon. The resulting oil is a crude extract that requires further distillation to make the purified isolate.

Once distilled, the distillate oil can be put into the Cascade 20L Glass Filter Reactor System where it’s homogenized with a liquid hydrocarbon (such as pentane) into a solution. The temperature of the solution is slowly dropped over 4-6 hours. During this time, CBD precipitates and crashes out into a powder.

Once the crash is complete, the spray balls on top of the Filter Reactor will “rinse” the CBD isolate, cleaning out yellowing cannabinoids and other impurities.

The isolate powder is then purged of all solvents using a CVO and is then incorporated into a product where other flavors and aromas take prominence, such as gummies.

❄️12 Days of SKUs❄️ “Live Resin Diamonds” are THC-A crystals that are formed slowly in vacuum ovens during post-processing. While THCA diamonds can be made using any non-decarboxylated cannabis oil, we will be discussing diamonds made from live resin. This process begins with live resin oil that is collected and jarred after extraction, then placed into a vacuum oven for a low and slow purge. The collected oil still contains solvent, which is slowly purged from the jar, leaving behind THCA crystals. A similar process would be if you dissolve salt in a glass full of water, the water will eventually evaporate, but the amount of salt does not change, so it forms crystals. Often times the isolated crystals will be re-combined with terpenes to give the consumer a more full-spectrum experience.
