🌴 Beach Bum Tropical Watch 🌴

A little low-pressure blob is expected to try and get its flip-flops together over the Bay of Campeche on Friday as a tropical wave moves west out of the Yucatan.

Right now, conditions only look marginally favorable, so this thing is not exactly walking in like it owns the Gulf.

🌊 Development chances:
🟒 48 hours: 10%
🟒 7 days: 10%

The system should move inland over eastern Mexico late Saturday or Sunday, so for now it’s more of a keep-one-eye-on-it-while-you’re-cleaning-sand-out-of-your-truck situation.

Beach Bum verdict: Low chance, but worth watching. πŸ¦€πŸŒ§οΈ

BEACH BUM AFTERNOON BEACH REPORT

🌞 Port Aransas and Padre Island are serving up warm temperatures in the mid-80s today with plenty of humidity. The air feels like a wet beach towel that just won't dry!

πŸ’¨ Southeast winds are blowing 15 to 20 mph, making the Gulf a little feisty this afternoon.

🌊 Seas are running 3 to 5 feet nearshore, with some larger sets offshore. The surf is rough, choppy, and has plenty of energy.

πŸ‘€ Water clarity has slipped a bit thanks to the steady southeast wind: πŸ”Ή Port Aransas: 4 to 6 out of 10 πŸ”Ή Padre Island: 5 to 6 out of 10

πŸš™ Beach driving conditions remain good on most stretches of beach.

🌿 Seaweed is not a major problem right now, which is always a nice bonus.

⚠️ If you're planning to swim, use caution. The rough surf and stronger currents can sneak up on you, especially near piers, jetties, cuts, and deeper guts.

🎣 For the anglers, focus on the first and second gut where bait is getting pushed close to shore. Cut mullet, whiting, and shrimp should all get some attention today.

πŸ„ Beach Bum Bottom Line:

The Gulf isn't in a relaxing mood today. She's tossing waves around, stirring up the water, and reminding everyone who's boss. Good beach driving, fair water clarity, rough surf, and plenty of wind. Bring an extra chair anchor if you're setting up camp because things may try to relocate themselves! πŸ˜‚

🌊 Port Aransas & Padre Island Thursday Beach Bum Report

🌀️ Weather:
Hot, humid, and cloudy enough to make the sun act like it’s hiding from responsibility. Temps will be in the mid to upper 80s, but with that sticky Gulf air, it may feel like Mother Nature wrapped you in a damp beach towel and called it β€œcoastal living.”

🌬️ Wind:
Southeast winds around 15 mph, picking up some later. Not terrible, but enough to remind your canopy who’s really in charge out there. Stake it down unless you want it vacationing in someone else’s campsite.

🌊 Surf & Seas:
Surf is running around 2 to 4 feet today, building closer to 3 to 5 feet tonight. It’s not washing-machine-on-angry-cycle yet, but the Gulf is definitely doing pushups before the weekend.

🚩 Rip Current Risk:
Low today, but don’t get cocky near piers, jetties, cuts, or deep guts. That’s where the water likes to pretend it’s innocent before snatching your flip-flops and your dignity.

πŸ”₯ Heat & UV:
The UV is brutal and the humidity is thick enough to chew. Bring water, sunscreen, shade, and common sense. Leave one of those behind and the beach will invoice you by lunch.

🎣 Fishing:
Fishable, but you’ll need to work for it. Hit the first and second gut, especially early and late. Bring enough weight to hold bottom, because that southeast breeze will have your line doing the electric slide. Dirty water? Try gold spoons, cut bait, shrimp, FishBites, or FishGum. Cleaner pockets? Throw silver spoons, live bait, or shrimp and see who’s home.

πŸ–οΈ Beach Bum Bottom Line:
Thursday is hot, sticky, breezy, and bumpy, but still doable if you don’t show up dressed like you trust the weather. Better beach window today than the rougher weekend coming, so get out there, hydrate like a responsible beach goblin, and don’t let the Gulf clown you.

🌊 Beach Bum Weekend Weather Alert: Port Aransas & Padre Island

🌧️ This weekend is looking rough around Port Aransas and out on Padre Island. Tropical downpours, gusty southeast winds, and very rough surf are expected to make the beach more of a washing machine than a weekend getaway.

🌬️ Seas are expected to run 4 to 6 feet for much of the weekend, with southeast winds around 20 knots or higher. That is enough to stir up the Gulf, muddy up the water, and make fishing and beach time a whole lot tougher.

🌊 Water clarity will likely start dropping on Friday as the wind and surf build. Rain chances increase Saturday night and continue into Monday as a storm system in the western Gulf pushes moisture and wind toward the Coastal Bend.

πŸ–οΈ This is not looking like a good weekend for beach activities unless that storm changes course. Expect rough surf, sticky humidity, and tropical downpours that roll in fast and dump rain like the sky forgot how to behave.

🌑️ Temps will stay in the mid-80s, but with high humidity it will feel like the beach is wearing a wet blanket.

⚠️ Keep an eye on the forecast, watch for rip current updates, and don’t let the weekend fool you just because it still looks pretty from the parking lot.

🎣 Beach Bum Fishing Tip: Mangrove Snapper

🐟 Where to find them:
Mangrove snapper are structure-loving little bait burglars. Around Port Aransas and Padre Island, look for them around jetty rocks, Packery Channel rocks, docks, pilings, marina walls, bulkheads, bridge structure, and canal edges.

🦐 Best bait:
Keep it simple and snack-sized. Use live shrimp, fresh dead shrimp, mud minnows, tiny finger mullet, small pinfish, crab pieces, or little strips of cut bait. These fish will steal bait faster than a seagull at a beach picnic.

πŸͺ Best setup:
Use a light spinning setup with 10–20 lb braid, a 15–25 lb fluorocarbon leader, and a #1 to 1/0 hook. Add just enough weight to get the bait down without making it look like you threw a boat anchor.

🌊 Best time to fish:
Moving water is the magic sauce. Fish the incoming or outgoing tide, especially around rocks and current seams. Early morning, late evening, and nighttime around lights can be excellent.

πŸͺ¨ How to fish them:
Don’t always cast way out. Drop your bait tight to the rocks, pilings, and dock edges. Mangroves live close to cover, and once they bite, they try to run straight back into it. Keep your line tight and pull them out quick.

⚑ Beach Bum warning:
These little snapper are sneaky. If your line twitches, jumps, or feels weird, reel down and get ready. Half the time they already stole your shrimp and are laughing from under a rock.

🏝️ Beach Bum Bottom Line:
Small bait, light tackle, tight to structure, and moving water. That’s the mangrove snapper recipe around Port Aransas and Padre Island.

🌊 Thursday Tide Forecast
〰️ Padre Island: Low : 6:36 PM | High: 2:56 AM
〰️ Port Aransas: Low : 6:36 PM | High: 2:56 AM
〰️ Mustang Island: Low : 6:33 PM | High: 2:52 AM
〰️ Corpus Christi : Low : 6:36 PM | High: 2:56 AM

Today’s tidal coefficient starts at 71, climbs to 75 by noon, and finishes strong at 79. That means the tide range and current movement will be higher than normal, so the water is going to have some extra horsepower under the hood. What that means for fishing: stronger current can fire up the bite because bait gets moved around, pushed through guts, cuts, points, channels, and around structure. Predators like redfish, trout, black drum, pompano, Spanish mackerel, and jacks may use that moving water like a seafood conveyor belt.
─── ⋆⋅⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅⋅⋆ ─────
🌊 Friday Tide Forecast

〰️ Mustang Island: Low : 7;17 PM | High: 3:54 AM
〰️ Corpus Christi : Low : 7:03 PM | High: 3:50 AM

A tidal coefficient of 79 is a high value, which means the tides will have more swing and the currents will be moving with extra muscle today. For fishing, that can be a good thing because stronger water movement pushes bait around, stirs up the guts, and gets predators cruising. Reds, trout, jacks, black drum, and sharks may use that moving water like a buffet line with fins.

πŸŒ™ Moon Info: Lunar transit, moon up
🎯 Target Species: Speckled trout, redfish, pompano, whiting, black drum
🐟 HIGH ACTIVITY
⏱️9:03 AM to 11:03 AM
Fish this window hard. The bait should be moving, the predators should be nosy, and your rod tip might start doing the happy dance.

πŸŒ™ Moon Info: Opposing lunar transit, moon down
🎯 Target Species: Redfish, black drum, sharks, gafftop, trout under lights
🐟 HIGH ACTIVITY
⏱️9:23 PM to 11:23 PM
Night bite gets the green light. Bring good bait, bug spray, and enough patience to outsmart something with fins and an attitude.

🌊 MINOR PERIODS

πŸŒ™ Moon Info: Moonrise
🎯 Target Species: Whiting, pompano, redfish, black drum

A decent early bite for the moonrise crowd, also known as fishermen and people who lost the battle with sleep.

πŸŒ™ Moon Info: Moonset
🎯 Target Species: Trout, redfish, whiting, pompano
🐟 AVERAGE ACTIVITY
⏱️4:22 PM to 5:22 PM

06/11/2026

🌊 Today is an average day for fishing because nothing is really screaming β€œfeeding frenzy,” but it also isn’t a total skunk sandwich. The fish should still eat, but you may have to work for them instead of expecting them to jump in the cooler wearing name tags.

πŸŒ• The moon/solunar bite is decent, but not magical. The feeding windows should help some, especially around the major periods, but outside those windows the bite may slow down like a tourist trying to back up a beach trailer.

🌬️ The weather is warm, humid, breezy, and partly cloudy around Port Aransas today, with a chance of a spotty thunderstorm. That keeps things fishable, but changing clouds, pressure, and wind can make the bite a little picky.

🎣 Tide movement and current are the big deal today. If the water is moving, bait moves, and when bait moves the reds, trout, whiting, drum, and pompano start paying attention. Slack tide may feel like you’re soaking bait in a bathtub.

🐟 Best bet is to fish the guts and moving water. Focus on the first and second gut, cuts, washouts, and any nervous bait. Use shrimp/FishBites for whiting and pompano, cut mullet or whiting for reds, and spoons if the water has enough clarity.

πŸ–οΈ Beach Bum verdict: Average day, not bad, not great. Fish the better windows, watch the water movement, and don’t just cast into the big blue soup hoping Poseidon sends room service.

🌴 Port Aransas & Padre Island Afternoon Beach Report

It’s hot, sticky, breezy, and the Gulf is acting like somebody left the blender on medium.

🌞 Temps are around 89–91Β°, but the humidity is giving it that free sauna upgrade nobody asked for.

πŸ’¨ Winds are out of the southeast around 10–15 knots, with a few gusts trying to slap your beach umbrella into next week.

🌊 Seas are running about 3–4 feet, with the occasional bigger bump. Not terrible, but not exactly grandma’s bathtub either.

🌑️ Water temp is around 84°, so yes, the fish are basically swimming in soup.

🎣 Fishing is average today. Work the first and second gut, bring a few extra sinkers, and don’t be shocked if the current tries to repo your tackle.

βœ… Beach driving looks good
βœ… Seaweed is not a big issue
⚠️ Surf and current are still something to respect

🎣 Fishing: Average

Bottom line: Good beach day, decent fishing day, but the Gulf’s got a little attitude.

🌊 Bob Hall Pier Fee Update

It's about time they start charging what's your opnion. Too expensive or are you happy the choas may settle down on the pier.

Nueces County is expected to start charging at Bob Hall Pier within the next few weeks once the new building is in place.

Here’s the expected fee setup:

🎣 $3 to walk on the pier
🎣 $4 to fish
🎣 $1 for veterans
🎣 $2 per pole
🎣 Limit of 4 poles

So if you’re headed out there to chase reds, whiting, pompano, or whatever toothy critter is cruising the end, make sure you’ve got a few extra beach bucks in the tackle bag.

🌊 Beach Bum Morning Beach Update

🌬️ Surf & Wind: Today’s seas are going to be rough, running around 4 to 5 feet, with southeast winds at 10 to 20 knots and gusts up to 28 knots. The Gulf of America is going to have a little attitude today, so expect a bumpy surf zone.

⚠️ Rip Currents: Rip current risk is low, but don’t let that fool you into thinking the water is calm. Rough seas can still slap you around like a wet beach towel in a wind tunnel.

🌿 Seaweed: Seaweed does not seem to be much of an issue today, so at least the beach isn’t wearing a salad bar.

πŸ”΅ Blue Button Jellyfish: I’m getting reports of Blue Button jellyfish showing up on area beaches. They are usually more irritating than dangerous, but don’t go poking them like you’re inspecting alien beach buttons.

πŸš™ Beach Driving: Beach driving should be good today, so getting around should not be a problem.

🌑️ Water & Weather: Sea temps are sitting around 84 degrees. It’s going to be hot, sticky, and humid, but that southeast breeze should help keep you from turning into a beach burrito.

🎣 Fishing Forecast: Fishing is considered average today. We are still under a four-tide day, which can spread the bite out and make fish a little picky. By Thursday, currents should get stronger as we move into a two-tide day, and that could help fire up the bite better.

πŸ–οΈ Beach Bum Bottom Line: Rough surf, decent driving, warm water, low rip current risk, and average fishing. Good day to enjoy the beach, just keep an eye on the surf and don’t let the jellyfish buttons boop you.
