So quite a few of those out of town roofing companies who got homeowners to sign are currently posting in state and even local Facebook groups trying to find installers familiar with “TID or whatever” (seriously, just saw that) installation guidelines. Man I sure hope they don’t leave a huge trail of destruction for us here in the Coastal Bend to clean up - it’s going to be Harvey 2.0. Remember, just because you signed a contingency agreement or have their sign in your front yard - you can still sign with a local company!

We’re not going to beat a dead horse about going with a local roofing company but I do want to let everyone know about the Fortified program as we start the rebuilding process. We’ve been inspecting properties since Sunday and everything has been damaged that I’ve seen thus far. This will be the standard for coastal roofing and building applications and when your roof is installed by a Fortified Certified roofing company and inspected by a Fortified Certified/Windstorm Engineer, you may see substantial savings on your insurance premiums and protect your property when we get our normal hurricanes/tropical storms. As you contact your insurance company, definitely ask them directly about the Fortified program so don’t take my word for it. If there are any insurance agents or companies in here you have definitely seen this within the past few months and know about it so please chime in and share any information with our neighbors. We have been meeting with all of the major insurance companies and have ran numbers based on Fortified and non-Fortified properties and the savings are substantial to us as coastal homeowners.

Our local Windstorm engineers are Fortified Evaluators and handle both Windstorm and Fortified certifications so please do your research as you select your roofing contractor. There are only a very small handful of us roofing contractors in the coastal bend certified which you can find below so please do not jump the gun or get pressured into signing with roofers promising the world. As always, please delete if not allowed admin but this is very important due to the severity of this extremely random hailstorm and the fact that insurance will be paying for roof replacements so now is the time to go Fortified!
